Mine is a Mile Marker 9.5T. It used to be a SX9.5 but I had the winch controller replaced under warranty so that just makes it a standard 9.5T since they no longer make the SX9.5 winch controller. Mile Marker guys have been pretty much have been bending over backwards to make me happy. This is the second winch controller they have sent me. The first controller wasn't water tight and I mounted it on the front of the bumper. It filled up with mud and water and corroded pretty fast since the crap had no way to drain. Now I know better and this new one is going to be sealed up tight with plenty of drain holes.

Personally, trimble, I'd go a heck of a lot bigger then the 9.5. I mean, heck, we use the
8T winches for our little Samurai's !! The SMALLEST winch I would ever put on one of these trucks would be warn's 12,000. Warn does make a pretty sweet 16.5ti Thermometric winch, which would make sure ya get unstuck, no matter what your in !

They also make a pretty sweet new winch they call the "powerplant" . Its an on-board air compressor, and a winch. That way ya got the abaility to use air tools, air up tires, and pull yourself out !

If your not trying to spend a fortune, Warn has also made a new line of "more affordable" winches called the Tabor series, they have one in the 12,000

Just thought I'd share some about Warn's winches. Huge fan of em. also figured I'd tell ya that the 8,000 and the 9,500 are generally used on Jeeps and Samurai's and other lighter vehicles.

You brought alot to the table with that post! Ill have to go check a few of them out.

So the Tabor Series are more affordable, but is it giving up strength or performance?

And i like the thought of the BIGGEST winch I can fit. That way im dont have to worry if the winch will do its job or not. Added security i geuss.

And yes ive looked at the "Power Plant" wow thats all I can say! Its an amazing piece of equipment if you ask me! I would definitely love to have one of those tucked up under the truck!

Yeah, Im sure your truck is alittle heavier than mine but probably not by much. Im probably going to get the 12k I really like the 16.5ti so I'll have some decisions to make!

The biggest difference with the Tabor series, is ya only get a 1 year warranty. Most any other winch from Warn comes with a lifetime warranty, and they don't ask ya too many questions about how ya broke it ! (which is good when your young and dumb! but ya live and learn, right ?)

Also, the Tabor comes with a shorter cable. I think the other Warn 12m comes with something like 125' the Tabor comes with 80' (roughly).

Lastly, i think the Tabor will pull a little slower. The Warn 12m can pull in something like 30' per minute! Overkill IMO... but still a "cool" factor!

The powerplant is just awesome ! I have already seen one out on the trails and they are just SWEET ! But, I am pretty sure it weighs about twice as much as my Samurai ! So, its something i'll just have to gawk over !

**EDIT: the 16.5ti is the BEST out there, IMO

yeah thats one thing i didnt mention, my 9.5ti is slow imo. my brother has the 8k warn winch and it pulls faster with his little ranger. but in the grand scheme of things, as long as the winch is putting a pull on the vehicle, and the vehicle can spin tires, i feel my winch will get me out of anything i am willing to put my truck into. a faster spool rate would be awesome, but not necessary.

Thats very good. Im really not that concerned how fast it will pull as long as it pulls. Ill be seriously looking into the Tabor Series. Ill check 4wheelparts and Warn for information, and price difference from the two. I do like the Lifetime warranty on the non Tabor series.

Any other places to check for prices and such I know 4wheelparts isnt gonna be the best when it comes to prices!

wow nice site. Never even heard about it before...

The Tabor model is like 50% cheaper than the non Tabor.

I do however really really like te 16.5ti.

Im gonna have to decide I geuss!

The only thing im wondering about the Tabor Series 12k Sef Recovery Winch it says it comes with:
>> Handheld Remote with a 12' lead

>> wire rope with hook

>> hook strap

>> Roller Fairlead

So how much and what size line comes with it?

Warn all the way. Got one on my jeep and that thing is awesome. Used it many of times and never falled me, even pulled an ice cream man out of the sand on the beach one day.

Tabor is an entry level winch. Call it a "Warn LIGHT"

Personally, I believe Warn brought this line out so people would get used to having a winch, then when the Tabor malfunctions a regular Warn winch will be bought.

By the way, not all Jeep drivers had their rigs bought by Daddy only to be stuck in a ditch.
