Man, I have millions... damn Heep owners !

Impact, i've said it before, but I LOVE your truck. Really.

So, I asked awhile back, but it was still new. How do ya like your bumper ? Visibility ? Distracting at all ? Just curious, will be in the market for one here soon.
Still loving it. Only thing I need to do is add some gusits to the bumper mounts on the frame to stop some jiggle. The view over the hood in the photos above is hugging the dash. I don't even notice it anymore.

That is one massive bumper, and I'm sure that jeep guy was VERY grateful. Nice save!

hey IMPACT I wanted that exact bumper but they dont make one for my truck. So i have a few questions...

1. How does the hood open?
2. Is the whole bumper a solid piece or two pieces.
3. How much does it weigh? Estimate is fine.

My plan was to buy the Road armor winch bumper then me and my dad are gonna weld up the tubing plan on making it a two piece design so when you have to open the hood you take the top half of the tubing off... the bumper and the bottom half of the tubing stays intac.

Plan on usind DOM for this.

Hope that makes sence

^^ You could use HREW tubing vs. DOM. It would save ya a couple bucks ! And is considered standard roll cage material. DOM is generally used for things like driveshafts, links, etc. But up to you.

I would suggest going with at least 1.25" tube with .120 wall (I would probably go 1.5" and look around for slightly thicker wall)

(just some adbice for ya trimble)

Top part over the lights is the hinge. It rotates there and latches at the sides.
The bumper is one piece after welding but rotates as 2 pieces.
Estimated weight is about 150lbs. The road armors look good but way too much for me to consider.

Ok thats good info, I will definitely look into that. It will definitely be a unique project, my dad wanted to just make the whole thing from scratch but im really scared at trying all the angles and bends in the main bumper.

Realistically how hard do you think this would be to make look nice and even? Im learning how to weld and my dad has welded for many years. Everyone think this is possible?

Ok i can see how it works in the gallery. Im thinking abot just making it a 2 part brush gaurd with the bumper and lower brush gaurd welded together then, Some how connecting the top half of the brush gaurd to the rest. This is the only part of the whole construction im worried about, im wondering if that hinge would be hard to find and use.

Thanks everyone for the info!

i'd suggest trying to mock it up using cardboard. if u can make a cardboard template, you can probably cut the plate u need and weld it up.

thats great idea! now say i can make the template that looks good. What size metal plate should i make it out of 1/8" and should i do it out of steel or diamon plate? I kinda like the diamon plate but its gonna be linexed along with the bed!

IMPACT sorry for the hijack!

I'm not worried about a hijack haha. Use 1/8 plate for the parts that don't need to be thick 1/4. The parts that are that thick on my bumper is the area around the winch and frame of the bumper. I havn't looked for reenforcement points I have noticed a few 1/4" strips for reenforments. This bumper is extremely strong. I have rotated the gaurd and stood on it many times. Banging on it everywhere and it's has a very solid feel.
