leaving here in bout 4 hours!!! WOOOOO!!!!
Atleast when next time comes around, my truck will be on 37's with 4.88's and a little bit more capable then it is now. Figure Im gonna use 35 all terrains for the street and 37 boggers for offroad trips and then just switch back and forth. But maybe next time.
We made it back. Was a damn good time. Carnage limited to dented bed side and caved in rear tail gate on the sammy, courtesy of me. We watched the video and you can see me flying down trail J wheels locked doing about 15mph then into the sammy. Was kick a$$ time.
I'm glad we can look back and laugh about that ice skating adventure on trail J, because that could have gone much worse. If we had a video camera rolling in my truck, al you would have heard was "Oh SH*T I got no brakes! We're gonna hit a tree! I hope Wolf doesn't stop! Oh SH*T He managed to stop! Should we hit him or a tree?" The pucker factor was off the charts. For those who missed the run, I'll give the cliff notes version of the trail J incident:
We turned onto a trail that runs all the way down a small mountainside, and before we could even stop to assess the condition of the trail, the situation turned FUBAR. It was solid ice, with a thin layer of snow on top. A sharp dropoff was on the right all the way. First, we watched Wolf17 slide a couple of hudred yards down the narrow mountain trail with all 4 wheels locked AROUND 2 BENDS!!!, and before we could stop it we were right behind him, skating down this trail with absolutely no control of the truck. The only thing guiding us was a shallow rut 12 inches from the edge, which could easily have released us over the side at its leisure. It seemed like the other 3 were not behind us at first, so we tried to call them and warn them, but it was too late. 3 more trucks came skating down this trail, Jeff in the Jeep managed to stop just behind me, the Samurai (I forget his name) stopped just behind him, but Mike came in for a crash landing and and put a smack down on the Sammy. No injuries, no major damage, just some wheelers who suddenly felt nausea, because we were only halfway down the trail, and it was equally icy the rest of the way. Fortunately, with the help of a patient park staff member, the afternoon sun warming up the trail some, and an extremely cautious plan using 6 tow straps linked together, we inched our way dowd the rest of the trail and got to safety 3 hour later. When I first got to stable ground, I was all like
OK, so everyone has had a day to look the trucks over, is there any other carnage we don't know about? Here's mine. Good thing the lense is built Ford tough, because I have no idea why it didn't break:
I only have 3 pics on my camera here they are. I do have 3 videos though but can not figure out how to compress them on windows movie maker to upload them. Vince has a video of me sliding down the J trail going about 15mph with all 4 tires locked, crazy. Nothing like being the last one down after all the snow had been pushed aside. It was fun however to use the winch to haul myself back up. I'll post more as I have time.

This kid from the Yamaha raptor forum asked me to go with him this past week. I wish I would have seen this post earlier b/c I would have went. This way I could have met some of you guys. Maybe next time. My truck is not lifted and I dont even drive it in the snow (let alone mud) but it would've been nice to meet the ppl I talk to online.
