As soon as he had me out of the hole, then the engines decides to die from all the water getting tossed on the distributor, so he was going to tow me back home (gettin too dark to mess with there). He put the truck on his rack without strapping it down and then lost it when he tried to hog his way up the rut filled entrance to the rec area, The damage came from jumping off the rack and landing on the frame crooked, which is why it only trashed one side.
I didn't pay for the tow, and his insurance company wrote me a check, I'll do the work in chunks. Not sure if I'm going to repair the bedside (I have all the pieces) or just get a new bedside, it's a bolt on thing, just expensive.

I stole my dads '81 F150 4x4 many years ago when I was still in high school and managed to get it really stuck in snow. It was cold as hell, but the engine melted the snow and water got in 2 places somehow. The power steering pump basically exploded internally when that water re-froze and I had to drive home with manual steering. Secondly the front passanger hub froze and had to be replaced (might have been from crossing open water creek then then snow). Needless to say I didn't get to drive his truck for quite a while after that one.

HCFR-Halligan, you and Thump both live in Florida and I've noticed the mud on your trucks are identical, but far from ours on the west coast. It looks to be much thinner over there and looks like it's easier to wash off (I'm not insulting your mud) The mud over here just seems less watered down and cakes up your underbody like crazy, an incredible nuisance when trying to keep your truck clean.

I go mudding almost every weekend and I've only gotten stuck once. It was a couple of weeks ago. My dad dug out the ditches on the side of this road and put the dirt he dug out in the middle of the road and smoothed it out and I was driving down the road after it rained 3 inches and as soon as I hit that spot My truck just sunk. These trucks are a hell of a lot heavier than they look. Here is my fav. pic. I took it last summer.
