craig, i know yanking is bad but it was the only way to get him out, had a quality tow strap(50,000 pound rating) problem was i wasnt getting traction because the mud hole was so big, 30 foot strap and i was still in the slop, the only thing i could have done diffrent was got another vehicle with a tow strap and tandum pulled him out,

what about a 90 degree tug?

i was wondering(and couldnt tell from the pix), could you
have gotten off at a 90 degree angle and thereby on more
solid ground?

with a strap tow, you dont have a lot of options.

i recently pickedup a snatchblock for my winch as
with reall stuck stuff and you dont want to yank your own
bumper off for another guy, the snatchblock doubles
the pull torque, although it does shorten the range that
you can pull from.

i guess the best solution is a winch...

sure do wish you luck though as its no fun
cutting axles down in the field or staying stuck!

i didnt have any pics of the big mudhole he was stuck in that one was just a little hole he got stuck in the big one he got stuck in was a huge circle about half the size of a football feild, i wish i had my camara for the big one that i broke my axle on but i left the camara back at camp i got him out of the little one eazy, i do need a winc i think that would have been a good solution to getting him out

my warn has been a truck saver for me and others

one of my earliest purchases for my offroad habit was a
solid bumper and a warn winch. i have latched onto
trucks twice my size and in a big mud bog, they just ooze
on out.

i feel your pain with the camera, my biggest pull so far was a
large dodge out of the mud bog at the hollister hills course.
my wife was taking pix with my old camera, all the damn
things were lost! i went out and got a new camera! :O

here is some food for purchase thought....

cheers...

heavy duty

well, it was about $2500. i wanted solid and i got it.
its steel base will not bend no matter what i hit,
got a lot of deer around here, i pity the one that runs out
in front of me.

as for the winch, its a 9.5Ti, straight pull its good for the
9500 lbs, But with the snatchblock, that value is doubled!

i bet anyone is gong to be challenged to find a 19,000 lb
stuck rig.

while i like the reunel, were i do do it again, the warn
bumpers are looking pretty good...

hth...

Nice story!

Wonder why not swap to Warn Manual hub up front?? I dunno if its avaiable for F150 2004 or newer.

In past i was invloded with Jeep community and off roading "rockcrawling" (Jeep wrangler hardcore rig) most of us usually carry spare parts like hub, axleshaft, drive shafts blah blah...

Wonder why not buy some spare that is weak link and carry spare? so in future if it happen to you again.. you have part ready to replace it
Sometime break part isnt fun!

Winch is sweet...i think Warn sells small solid mount for winch up front or 2"recicver mount ??

YOMAN!
