Let see some offroad pics!
Hey immortal if you go out on corrolla almost to where the posts are up to block off the beach you will see trails that lead back into the dunes. They are access routes for the people who live back there. There are a bunch of trails back there.
I have a bad memory, but I think I know what you're talking about... And you can drive on them without getting into trouble? I might have to check that out when I go to Nags Head in a couple of months.
Yes the trails in Corolla are perfectly legal. There is an entire sand road system back there. Some of my buddies and I go down there every couple of weeks. It is really funny when you start to find out where all the big trucks go. How often do yall go? The only trails that are marked with no truck signs are illegal. If you during the summer, dont speed at all. We will probably have a convoy down there within the next couple of weeks.....good times

I hope nobody had to get out and hook up a chain or anything...I got some MO Clay in the interior of my Jeep 3 years ago.... The carpets are stained for life! Luckily the seats had cheap covers on them!

I've found that red clay sucks no matter which state it's in. It also is the worlds most eficient stain. ()*$*(#$#*^$*&@#$ my mom hopped in my last truck with that crap all over her boots. It STILL has a stain to this day, 3 years later. I think it was a plot on her part though because I ended up giving her the truck.
Went on a trip out to Anza Borrego. Fun but went places that were pretty scary almost didn't make out of one narrow pass. Heh, being in a full size really makes it necessary to scout ahead before going into canyons!
Made it out ok, got some scratches on the bottom of the door (couldn't really see them anyway) which I promptly painted over. Scared the wife half to death though. The only 2 times we got into sticky situations was because we read the map wrong

Rancho 4" 35's and Eagle wheels
I must say the truck handled amazingly well for where we went (no pictures from the big rocky areas... was too busy getting out of trouble to take pics!!) Had to dig a rock out from under the truck so it wouldn't damage it. In the meantime kept waiting for Jeepers to pull up behind us and laugh. Those Jeep guys are nuts. Had fun though still. Just need to stay out of the narrow canyons.

I accidentally went on a small 4wheeling escapade in my 2wd Thursday... I had the boat on behind me and thought that I had passed the road for the public ramp to the lake. I seen a little log trail that made a circle so I thought to myself. "Self, that would be much easier than trying to pull into someone’s drive way and back this trailer onto the highway with out getting hit." So I pulled in...
The first mud Hole didn't look to bad but I decided to ride as close to the brush as I could and only let one side get in it. Well It turned out to be about 1'-1.5' deep...
The trailer was high centered on the ridge of the puddle and I had nowhere to go but straight. So I plowed ahead hoping that I wasn't plowing the ground with the lower unit. Came out of that one went another 100 yards or so and there was a nice set or DEEP ruts.
So I look for a minute and decide I am wide enough to ride the ridge between them... About 1/2 way through them my back end fell in them.. So now I am side ways in the ruts with the trailer almost jack knifed still straight in the trail and again sitting on the ground.
Even if I called a tow truck at this point scratches on the truck are likely before I get out. So I decide to try and get up out of the ruts and go through the brush. I started feathering the gas pedal and started getting some movement but just as it would reach the top I would lose traction and start spinning, so I would let off and roll back down into the rut. Started rocking it and would still lose traction at the same point every time. "At this point I am really wishing I would have bought a 4wd" About this time both of the rear tires broke lose and it started sliding side ways down the side of the rut. "Well it's not ideal, but it is momentum in the right direction." So I cut the wheel and keep even light throttle. I slid side ways the rest of the way through the rut about 25-30 yards until the ground flattened again and I was able to get the truck and trailer straight in the trail again.
Mental not to self...not a good turn around spot. Lucked out with no damage to the boat, trailer or the truck.. Except the brakes on the truck. The boat doesn't have any brakes so the trucks brakes were warm from stopping it... When they got dunked in the mud puddle it warped the 2 drivers side rotors.
