04-08 rear axle swap to 09-14
ok so if the years arent correct my bad but here is my question. Basically I want the electric locker rear out of the newer f150 in my 05 f150. Is this a possible swap as far as mounting and size and sensor hook up? I am talking whole axle here not just the diff. I know there will be some mis fitment when it comes to adding the locker switch because I believe its apart of the 4wheel drive control panel. My concerns are mainly just getting the newer axle in and mounted and sensor hookups. Any help would be great thnx.

Almost everything on the 09+ is run thru the can-bus. But the flip side to that is it's just a basic e-locker and if you put an e-locker axle out of the newer trucks into an 05 you should be able to just run a switched 12v to the axle and turn it on/off at will. Another advantage to putting one in a pre can-bus truck is it will not shut off above 20 mph like mine does.
Also considering what the cost of a complete 9.75 with e-locker might be have you considered just buying an aftermarket e-locker and having it put in your axle? In the end it will give you the same thing, but I believe the factory e-locker has better durability than the aftermarket ones.

parts for rebuild 1000 bucks with that diff same as cost for the newer , used rear axle with the locker so differences is I could install the whole axle where as for the rebuild I would pay a shop to do it. I was just exploring the options that's all. I may still do the rebuild, but as for the other option I can do in my garage if there were no fitment and electrical issues.
