New 4.56 gears with 315/70/17

Well I got the truck back after getting the gears done and let me tell you, it is nice to have a useful overdrive. Before with the 3.55s, I didn't use od under 60, now I actually use it all the time. It doesn't constantly downshift going up even the slightest hills. I went with 4.56 over 4.10s as the truck isn't my daily driver and I tow a 6000 pound camper. The camper purchase and initial tow was what made me realize I really needed the gears. Only 15 miles on the initial break in as of now. Will be driving it to work this next week and roughly 120 mile trip next weekend, then getting the diff fluid changed the following monday. Updates to follow. Rpms were about 1800 at 60.

Ought to feel like a race truck now! My '04 had 3.73's when I had the 315's on it and only with the programmer it felt like it wasn't straining. Good choice.

It was mainly the towing that was kicking my ***. Downshifted to first on one of the steeper grades around here and didn't tow it since. That didn't seem good at all. It was time for the gear change.

I am kinda stuck with my 3.73's. 4.10 is probably not worth the cost. 4.30 is not made for 8.8 IFS. 4.56 is a bit too low for 33's. I ran 4.56 on my old 01 with 315/75/16's. Loved that combo.

4.56's are not too low for 33's when you have a NBS 4.6. The 4.6 thrives on high revs.

4.88's are perfect for 4.6 and towing.

Also what does the NBS have to do with anything? It is just a 2v 4.6. They didn't really change the engine all that much did they compared to my old '01?

NBS weighs a lot more than OBS.

Well my old truck had 6" lift and 315/75/16's so not sure how much a weight difference there is between my current truck and the old one.
