Longer driveshaft questions...

ok, so i searched and searched and found nothing but jokes about makeing your shaft longer..... question is, with a 6" will i need to do anything to the rear driveshaft. In my searches i found that front need to be reclocked and balanced..?? not really up on what i would need to do with a 6" lift. Thanks in advance

I went a year with my stock driveshaft running 6" of lift and had no issues. I went a little bigger later on so I went ahead and got driveshaft spacers, a way cheaper alternative to getting a custom driveshaft. Of course, stupid me, I went ahead and got an aluminum driveshaft anyway (rear only). It was the only thing I hadn't modified powertrain wise. Since I am pushing a lot of weight and once or twice a year I like driving stupid (Glamis, Big Bear) I went ahead and made the upgrade roughly 2 months ago. No problems yet but I have yet to put it through anything but a little bit of mud, nothing serious. At least not powertrain wise. My truck always has a list of moderate issues but the driveshaft is great although it's definitely not needed IMO. See how far your driveshaft sticks out. If it seems like a lot and makes you uncomfortable, just get a spacer. Nice truck btw, I'm lovin the do it yourself blackout process!

Thanks for the input and the compliments i keep going over this in my head about 4" would be simple...but then i know i will regret not going a little bit higher. I know i know..i could always get a BL but why not just get what i want now. i just dont want the 6" to become a headache...if it even will. guess i gotta think
