Yea, well I've been running around quite a bit since I got my truck back. Mainly stop and go (city driving) and you can really feel a difference the motor has a lot less load... tranny shifts smoother (less strain). All in all it's feel exactly like jgger said close to STOCK... but I do have the an EDGE and right now I's set to level 2 (towing) I'm waiting for the tank to be empty to put some 93 octane and put in inthe performance mode and I'll check if that changes anything. I guess I was expecting more from it but I'm glad I did it anyway! Truck runs alot smoother!

Shooter-MMA - I would highly recommend doing it. I you are running over 35'' tires you should regear properly before adding power. That is the only real way to do otherwise you will never ''gain'' enough power to compensate for what a re-gear would do.

the proper gears take a huge load off your trany...i noticed when i did mine that at highway speed i went from 1600-1700 rpm to 2100 and i also was not able to do a burn out before the gears and now i can do it anytime i want...

PAT you did change teh evo settings to 4.56 gears and 600 revs for the tires correct.. some poeple have forgoten to do to do so.

as far as a seat of the pants diffrence no you may not get knocked in the back seat when you hammer it ( i would wait to do that till at least 500 miles)
but you should see it towing or on the highway.

X2, did you break in the gears, or did the shop do that for you?

Midwest - Yes I did change the gear ratio and correct tire size. I just guess from all the reading I did on here I was expecting more than it did!

NCSU - I have been breaking them in for a week now. No towing, no hammering it.

The more they break in the the more a feel the difference. The whole truck just seems more happy about it. Glad I did the swap !

yah 300 rpms is what you gain so no there is not a huge seat of the pants feel. hitting the on ramp to the highway will feel better and towing will be better.

Myself i plan on dumping the oil here soon i actually have about 2000 miles on the gears. just hate to throw away almost 50 bucks worth of amsoil.

i changed mine from 3.55 to yukon 4.56 just about 3 months ago, and am very pleased with the truck. since i try not to "pound the throttle" i didnt noitice a big difference, but i DID notice a huge improvement in drivability. the truck pulls in OD much better without constant shifting. i also noticed a slight increase in MPG on the highway, since the engine doesnt work quite as hard. i did the install myself, so the total job was just under 1000.00 by the time i add the cost of the oil.

Is 4.56 a good set up with 285/50/20 tire? I have stock 3.73 gears 4x4. I also drive on the hwy will it be to much for the hwy?. Looking for little more performance off the line.

Hey guys, how do the Yukons do as far as noise? I'm still running the factory exhaust and everything is quiet. Would I hear the the rear end if I changed out to Yukons?

if they are properly set up, then they are very quiet. YUKON does a very good job with the lapping process at the factory, and a bad set-up will ruin that. if you get the pinion depth and pre-load correct, you will be fine. that is where most noise comes from anyhow.

i am running 35" pro comp mud terrains, so they do have some road noise, but not loud. however, i cannot hear my gears at all!
