4.56's going in next wednesday!

Hey guys,

I've been running the 35' tires for 3 months now I just couldn't stand the power loss that came with it even though I have my Edge Evo set on #2 canned tune so I put an order for some new 4.56 Yukon gear and they are going in next wednesday!

Here are some random pics:

What do you have now, 3.55 or 3.73? I'm curious to see if you think it was worth it after everything is said and done.

I've been keeping this mod in the back of my head for a while now.

I have 3.73 I am quite confident that it will make a huge difference. I'll keep u posted on my liking though.

I just installed my 4:56's about 2 weeks ago and I had 3:55's. With 35's its well worth it, huge difference. I just wish I would have done it about 75,000 miles ago. It may have saved my transmission.

Where did you get the gears? 4wheel parts has a sale right now, pretty good prices too.

pat28 Jul 4, 2010 09:17 AM

I got them from Wayne at diffsonly.com I just cheked the 4wheelparts.com sale and I saved more then 200$ even with the sale, plus I got superior quality with Yukon gears. I highly suggest that you contact Wayne and ask him for a quote. You will be pleased with the price!

Quick question: what oil goes in the differentials? I heard 25W140 from the dealer but at 26$ cdn per liter and I need 6 of them it ain't cheap! Any idea where I can find some cheaper one?

75w 140 oil

synhetic with a added bottle of friction modifier if you have limited slip.

for the power and taking the strain off the trans it is worth doing i just hate the fuel econ 9.8mpg this weekend on a 400 mile trip. at 70mph on the highway

Thanks for the answer. That hurts! I am aware that fuel economy will be going down but I guess I'll have to deal with it!

Wow... The worst mileage I have had so far is 11.5mpg, mostly in town, driving aggressively with the a/c on all the time, running a 93 octane performance tune. A couple of tanks ago I eased up on the gas slightly and got 14mpg under the same conditions, and could probably have made 15 or better if I hadn't done a few 0-70mph WOT runs trying to get around traffic.

Hey guys they are just in and I CANT see a difference... that just bums me out... I think the guy who did it didn't change them and just bill me for the work... I have to go back to this place and settle this out.

pat28 Jul 8, 2010 04:08 PM

Oh well, they are in. I think I was just thought Id feel a bigger difference. I have an Edga Evo and from the display the load on the motor is about 30-45% lower at cruise and rpm's are what they should be with 4.56. So now I guss I'll need to supercharge this thing that way it will really move!

jgger Jul 8, 2010 04:14 PM

Yea the 4.56's will get you back to close to "stock" because of the tire size.

You should be able to see a difference in the tach.

Shooter-MMA Jul 8, 2010 04:25 PM

Wow... I would have thought you should feel a big difference. Makes me think twice before doing mine now.
