simple fact is it aint gonna be cheap. im looking at 800 installed for mine. that will include the gears, master install kir (recommended by shop) and then the inner bearings and other parts that will need to be replaced.

now that price may come down due to the condition inside there but till its open theres no telling. talk to the shop thats gonna be doing your install. i was gonna get my ring and pinion seperate and the install kit but once its all said and done it comes out just about the same so i went with the shop to save frustration

^^He is right. As a reference..

When I got my gears done I had 175k on my rear end. At that point I needed new bearings pretty much all around as well as seals etc. My axle shafts were all good, and I doubt you would need new ones because they dont usually mess up. The shop I got my my truck re-geared at only charged me $90 for all the bearings and what not so I would wait on install kits and let the shop handle it. I made out paying $648 for my re-gear

If you need absolutely no parts and your axle is in good shape, you can get away with ring & pinion and a crush sleeve. That's the bare minimum and I've gone that route with zero problems. I haven't done my front axle yet but plan on doing by this winter before snowfall and that's what I'll be buying.

75W-90 Gear Oil in front axle (as recommended by the ford f-150 owner manual)
75W-140 Gear Oil in Rear axle (as recommended by the ford f-150 owner manual)

You havent does your front axle yet? isnt that a big deal cuz the front and rear will inturn bind the drivetrain.

Well motive gears any good heard they have different levels of quality, and that 8.8 cover wont work because the stock cover hooks up to a bushing to mount the axle.

You dont need install kits! I did my gears myself for $450. I just had a machine shop remove the bearings safely without damaging the race or anything of the matter. Your just going to need oil, gasket maker, and a gasket for the front differential. All the parts you need are included; ring gears, pinion gears, and rear diff pinion nut! Go to jawsgear.com and order 4:10's and that will total up to $450 Although it is a very long process, took ALL day!

I have motive 4:10s and didnt have any trouble with the 8.8 housing cover! Honestly if the diffs are clean and show no signs of bad wear and tear, you do not need anything but the gears and some elbow grease! Take the pinion gears to a machine shop to have them remove the bearings and put them on the new pinions. All others stock parts such as the crush sleve, shims, etc will works just as good as any install kit. OH! Make sure you keep track of the shims and remember exactly where they go!
