TUne up on 04 fx4

Recently my mps has really gone down, and the truck has 40k miles which i know is very low for an 04. Ive changed the oil and the air filter and even cleaned the MAF sensor, but nothing. I cant seem to get past the 10- 10.5 mpg mark. Is it perhaps time for a tune up? Im thinking new plugs and wires might help. Also, what else does a tune up consist of?
Thanks!

Give this a try... take the negative battery cable off the battery and then touch the negative wire to the positive wire. This will reset (reboot) the computer (PCM) on your truck. Touch it together for 5-10 seconds, then reinstall the negative cable back to the battery.

Keep in mind that doing this will erase any trouble codes that may be stored in the computer. So if your check engine light is on then scan your trouble codes FIRST. If the light is off then you have nothing to worry about, there are no codes stored in the computer.

Return it to stock and see if the mileage improves.

You don't have to return it to stock to reboot the PCM. It will not harm it in any way. When you remove the batterry cable and touch them together, it will drain any and all capacitors in the trucks entire elecrtical system...which clears all of the computers "learned memory" (the pcm will learn and adjust itself to your driving habits, air temps, ect). When you reconnect the battery cable to the battery, the computer "reboots" and reverts back the the loaded tune, and then it will start to "relearn" again once you start driving.

What lvl are you running the edge at? What brand gas are you buying?

Looked at your brakes recently? You could have some that may be slightly dragging and need to have the slider pins greased.

Ok will do. Im gonna do it tommorrow. It sounds so wrong to touch the two cables together, like something would get fried! But oh well, everyone is telling me to do it so ill give it a try! Will my amp be ok?

You don't need to touch the cables together - just remove the negative terminal and turn the headlight switch on for 10 minutes.
