Went to www.cleargearz.com and they had some pictures. Also looks like they changed the product and put a metal ring around the edge.

I agree, what if you come down off a rock and whack it. Do you think that a piece of plastic would survive? I wouldn't take the chance.

Mine had the metal around it also. I just didn't show it in the pic.

I read an article before I bought mine.

They tested several covers. They used a forklift and stabed the covers.

The clear gearz cover bent but didn't break. The problem is that I don't think they checked them on a rearend. I think they just had the covers on the ground.

I like mine..

This thing is co cool.. I tow a boat it`ll be nice to be able to tell the level and making sure no water gets in there since the rear end get wet often.
For $99 you can`t go wrong imop

Just out of curiosity, why would water be getting in to the diff? if you're not leaking fluid out, and that's with temp changes and all through the vehicle sitting cold and then driving (think of expansion/contraction), then how would water enter when you're on a boat ramp? Or are you more talking along the lines of the fluid reaches higher temperature points where moisture condenses inside the diff from the increased heat?

This is how I see it, NO FLAMING. Water is not as thick as Differential fluid so it is possible for water to leak in but diff fluid not leak out.

But the biggest cause of leak it the Breather tube, alot of times they will crack unknown to the owner then once underwater they will leak. Or if you fully submerge the breather tube.

like this

Makes perfect sense. I wasn't even thinking of the breather tube. That to me sounds alot more suspect than the viscosity of diff fluid vs. water. How deep was that puddle?! (or should I say pond!!!)

Yeah its street legal. It wasnt in that picture because the headlights were over 54" from the ground. But I got some new lights now that are getting mounted in the bumper. The truck is going though a total rebuild right now, theres a link in my sig for the rebuild.

Yeah, I finally got a reply back from them. They said that the category was too specific and that I'd never have any competition, they like to keep it alittle more bold like (tallest truck or biggest truck)
