Lemon... sweet and tart

So get this... 2008 F150 FX4 Super Crew. Bought in May of '08 brand new. Now has ~ 18000 miles on it. It has been to the dealer 3 times to get the cowl fixed. Went in twice for the transmission. Went in once for the AC actuator or something another, which took them over a month to order and then had to take the truck back in to get repaired. Now it is in the shop for electrical problems. The Parking brake light and the ABS light is on - The truck drives like the parking brake is on too, even tho its not - and its also in for the tranny to be looked at again. That's 8 problems within 8 months.

Now tell me. Does that sound like a lemon? I thought you buy a truck to drive it, not to take to the shop once a month... I've had it dealing with this truck.

well I really want to get my money back thru NC Lemon Laws... and then buy a Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab, Revtech 3", ProComp 1079s, and 33" BFGs... or something very similar... My brother has been looking into tacos and so I've done a bit of research myself... so maybe we'll see what happens here. I always regretted not looking into the Tacoma when I got my truck in the first place... not that every F150 is the mine is/was, but just that they have so much ground clearance stock, add to that a 3" suspension lift, and bigger tires and i'll be set for all the offroading I ever do - which isn't too serious

I hope so... I really just want to get a 4x4 that will run right... and I forgot to mention the turn signal which made "electrical shorting-out" noises the other day, when I used it :P

Something is definitely wrong with my truck and I don't want to get it fixed for the 9th time... I want a new truck or one of equivalent value/miles/package/etc...

Anybody got any suggestions as what to do? My truck is at the dealer already... this is also the third time its been in for the tranny (I just think that's significant considering its the reason most people get rid of vehicles) among the other problems I listed... which makes 10 problems in 8 months :/

well, they're supposed to call me this afternoon and let me know what's going on. If they fix it, I am thinkin about extending the warrenty to 50K mi, just for assurance - in case nothing happens for 12K more miles and then decides to go kaput...

But if something else happens, I can say this... I will never get another Ford again... I love the looks and I love the way they drive/perform/etc, and Im not bashing anyone's truck on here... but I have had it with my truck, Im fed up dealing with the problems... who knows, maybe they'll give me a new F150... I MIGHT take that - but Im not even sure about that... I just want a different truck that won't give me this many problems

alright, so the dealer called today..... apparently the onboard computer is fried. And apparently has been fried for quite a while, since I bought it, but just now started giving so many problems like messing up the brakes/turn-signal/etc... Soooo, they are gonna order the new part and keep the truck for 2 more days. They "think" it may been affecting the transmission as well... so we'll see... If I take it in one more time and they don't fix the tranny then I get a new truck according to NC Law.

A Tacoma is a 1/4 ton. Is that enough for you? Admittedly, those Tacomas w/ the TRD suspension package are better than any of the 1/4 tons from the Detroit Big 3. Once upon a time, I had a little Ranger, and even back then, the Toyota Pre-Runner was a better light truck.

well... Im gonna give my F150 another go at it, and if goes back to the shop again I'll get a tacoma. I should get it back from the dealer Friday at the earliest :/

Well, I thought about that. My coach has a tacoma TRD double cab (or whatever their "supercrew" is) and I rode in it. I like it alot. Its not too roomy, but its room enough. I mean, Im 6'5"... which is why I want to lift it but I don't really tow anything... just our 17' scout boat everynow and then, and I haul the garbage once a week, but that's about it. I would get a manual if I could - I really like driving a stick...
