that's what i figured, i've heard of that being done in trail rigs before... what is the primary reason though? unavailability of the same ratio for both axles? or there is some other hidden benefit?
Generally, the guys with trail rigs run a different gear, simply because of their odd mix and match of rear/front ends. They can go with a Yota rear, and a GM front, sometimes it gets hard to find a matching gear set.
The factory did it, simply because the gears were already being made. It was a cost benefit, I believe.
no real added benefit to it though, it just was another way to the same end.
Guys i use the truck for my daily driven, sometimes i go to the track and do a couple of drag racing 1/4, And i do highway miles too. My tire sizes are 305/70/17 on the future i am planning on going back to stock tires.
