1998 f150 clutch question

Anything special about the clutch on a 1998 f150 ext cab 8 ft bed 2wd with the 5.4 engine 5 speed tranny? An acquintance was told replacing clutch is will cost over $1000.

Sounds kind of high to me. Check around for better prices, or with a couple of friends that know what to do is even better.

Why a clutch replacement on one of these trucks would cost $1000 baffles me... I think your acquintance should have shopped around a little more.

The odd issue I see here is: Where did you get a 5.4 liter w/ a manual tranny in an F-150???

To the best of my knowledge, the only options in 1998 would have been the 4.2 liter six or the 4.6 liter eight with a manual. All the 5.4's got automatics...

A complete new (not remanufactured) clutch kit installed by a shop will in fact cost $1000. This includes pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing/slave cylinder, and resurfacing the flywheel.
