a/c compressor

well the other day on my truck i realized that the a/c wasnt working so i popped the hood and come to find out the wiring wasnt connected to the compressor, so i pluged it in and start the truck up and the compressor started smoking realy bad, i turned the truck off and seen that the clutch was seized up, so if there a way i can fix these or will i have to buy a new one?

I'd be checking the compressor to see if it seized.

I'd also be asking A/C quextions in the correct forum....

I agree. A/C questions belong in the HVAC forum. But don't start a new thread - just remember next time.

Try to turn the FRONT of the compressor pulley by hand. It'll look like one of these:

. .

It should have intermittent resistance (as the pistons cycle to the compression stroke), but it should feel smooth & turn fairly easily. If it's locked or grinding, prepare to replace almost the whole A/C system. Ford doesn't allow cleaning the metal shavings out of anything because you can't get all of it, and it'll destroy the new compressor, too.
