thanks for fixing my 4wd

hey guys, i couldnt get my 99 f150 to go into 4wd once it started snowing, so here is what i did after reading all the posts i could find. i had the 4hi light on, but still checked all the fuses. checked the vacuum lines, and had vacuum at the transfer case, but no movement. I wedged a hammer in there and put some light pressure on the actuator and got it to move. shes in 4wd. now she wont come back out with the ****, so i figure i dont have enough vacuum, or the damn actuator thingy is faulty. how hard should it be to manually push the actuator? seemed like it was pretty tough, even after wd40. what do you guys think? im happier than a pig in **** right now, with a forecast of 6 inches of snow tomorrow.
thanks again
