Calibrating the speedometer
How do you calibrate the speedometer on a F-150 that has no gear on the tail shaft housing of the tranny?
I just have a plate on the side on the tail shaft housing of the tranny to cover up the hole were one would go.
All of my speed Info for the PCM(EEC), speedometer, odometer, Speed control and RABS comes from the VSS sensor on the top center of my rear end housing.
All of my 1995 Truck wiring diagrams and manuals support this but gives no clue on calibrating the speedometer.
Do you replace the Speed Sensor Ring in the rear end with a different one?
Here is what the Service Manual from FORD says.

Found the answer on a nother post.
THIS IS ALL WRONG
If your VSS is attached to the top of the diff then it can be adjusted electronically with a tuner. If the VSS is attached to the tranny or transfer case then it cannot be adjusted with a tuner. You can adjust it mechanically with gears (Tyre Match Box) or electronically by hardwiring in a chip (Yellow Box or Truspeed)

my superchips tuner does it for me the dealer can also do it but they make u pay too much... and from what i have heard they dont have too much a of a range of tire sizes on their machine. if it were me and i had the money invest it in a tuner, not only can u check codes, do tire and axle ratios, but also can gain some performance
