Info on differentials - Ford / Chevy
I need some onfo on the difference in the Ford and Chevy differentials. A friend has a '01 S-10 4x4 and claims it has some type of "locker" where all four wheels will spin reguardless of traction difference. This is a stock truck. What type of differential is this and is that how it works?
What type of differential does the Ranger use? Not that I'm interested in either of these trucks, I just need to be able to put this Chevy guy in his place when he gets big headed. I see the new F-150 has limited slip available. I assume this is only the rear axle which makes it three wheel drive? My truck ('88 F-150) is an open differential since it rarely spins both back wheels and never both when traction is greatly different.
I hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!
