Sending unit on diff housing??

I was installing my brand new Helwig rear anti-sway bar (very cool, btw) and I accidently knocked an electrical connector off of the differential housing. It was connected to what looked exactly like a temperature sending unit. It is mounted about 2 or 3 inches directly above the drive shaft in the diff housing. Luckily no damage was done and I simply plugged it back in.

Question though, does anyone know if it is a temperature sending unit?? Just got me curious.

The sending unit is the pick-up for ABS system. Also picks-up signal off of tone ring on differential carrier, which tells the in dash speedometer the vehicle speed.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

So the speedometer doesn't get speed info from the tranny anymore? That's interesting.
