rear differential housing #

i have a 1996 F-150 4x4 the gears in the rear end are shot i bought a complete axle at a junkyard for it the gears are the same however the code on the differential housing itself is a different number my current number is F0TW-4025-AA
the new axle says E7TW-4025-BA the new axle seems like a more heavy duty axle but im not sure if those numbers mean anything important or if they are manufacture site reference numbers

Where are you coming up with these numbers? The most important thing here; you truck is a 4WD. Make sure that you get the same ratio that the old diff. was. This is easy. Count the # of teeth on the Ring and # teeth on Pinion of each diff. For exmple: 11 teeth on the pinion and 41 on the ring= 3.73 (41 divided by 11 = 3.73).
