fixed scratches on window

I wanted to post this in case somebody had any scratches on their glass. I had some pretty good scratches on the outside of my pass. side glass. I tried everything I could think of for a year to get them out. I ended up using Bar Keepers Friend. It completely removed the scratches. I was shocked, it doesn't haze or scratch the glass either. It also removes the film on the windows from spotting and road grime.

It's just a very mild abrassive cleaner. You can get it at supermarkets, wal-mart, etc.... It comes in a gold colored cardboard type ajax or comet looking can.

How did you use it, because it didn't do anything for my scratches.

Okj I found some bar keepers friend at a local market. It has Oxalic acid in it. Is this something that could damage paint, Or is it a not to worry thing?

I'm sure it will say on the bottle if it needs to avoid paint. If you can apply Rain-X without hitting the paint, a liquid or paste abrasive would be easy to apply without hitting paint.

I wet every thing down, used a wet cotton (terry) towel. I made kind of a paste and circular motions (kinda like waxing) I rinsed it off and did it a few times. I used the open hose to compltely flush any residue or grit.

I had waterspots from the sprinklers hitting my camper shell in the back yard. I tried everything on these boards and then some trying to remove them. Nothing worked. By chance one day I was headed home and stopped off at a small auto window shop. I asked if he had any ideas on what to use. He turned around grabbed a jar off the shelf and poured this brown, very fine pwder in a bag and said to wet a rag and hold it over my finger, dip it in the powder and rub. It worked! No more water spots. Only took about an hour to do all four windows. If any one wants the name of the stuff let me know and I will go by and ask. I probably only used about 2 tbs of the stuff to do all windows on a ARE 'z' series cap.

It does indeed remove some of the windshield pitting, at least makes it less noticable.
