Taking apart door / tailgate handle to PTM

I am not looking for a "how to PT" and I did search but I can't find anything on this issue.

I ordered door handles, mirror caps, mirror inserts, and tailgate handle from Tasca to PTM them. I am going to PTM the new parts, install them and then use the parts I take off of mine to help a friend PTM his Flame Blue SCAB parts since they are identical to mine. Then I will sell the parts we take off his to recover my expenses. I did it this way so I would not be rushed to get them done since I rely on my truck and cannot afford to have any down time. I actually thought of starting a PTM service and selling the parts to others to save them the pain of doing it themselves. Not sure if it would be worth it though.

Anyway, I got the new parts yesterday and I got to looking at the door handles and tailgate handle. Is there a video or how to that tells how to take them apart? I really want to get the handles and the buckets apart to paint without breaking them.

There's a pin that gets pushed out. I use a small hammer and a socket (on the bottom)

I can dig out my extra handle, and do a write up if you can't figure it out

I see the pin to remove but what about the spring side? I left the handle at home (Work has a problem with me sanding parts at my desk) so I can’t look at it right now. Is it self-explanatory after the pin is removed?

Ok, now that I am home and have had another look I think I know what you mean. Do you mean these two pins?

And this one:

Yes and yes. Keep in mind the spring placement and orientation

I took some pics of it before taking the pin out so as to remember spring placement. I can’t get this pint out. Is there a secret? I don’t want to break it.

Put a socket over the head that is larger than the head that will fit on the plastic around the head. Tap with a hammer and drive the pin into the middle of the socket.

IIRC that pin has splines on it just below the head of it, so it is a somewhat tight fit for the first 1/8"

The socket idea worked like a charm, Thanks. I used a deep wall socket and had another person hold the handle which made it much easier as well.
