had an idea for rocker panels

so as you can see i have the tan rockers on my truck and i can't stand them, so i was thinking of doing a DIY ptm bedliner by getting hurculiner or something from autozone and paint that on and then getting oxford white color match to spray over that. Has anyone else done this?

Line-x Xtra would be the much smarter choice... get the color, less flaking of the paint off the DIY bed liner.

Start saving up to get it.

For as often as you would have to be repainting the White on it or replacing the DIY liner it would be worth it to do it right with Line-X Xtra.

X2. The paint would definitely flake off the bedliner in no time.

Yes I've done this and it works great....and use the Rustoelum spray on bed liner in a can (autozone or walmart carries it) because it's not as course or a material like the herculiner etc. My rockers on my 05 are done in it and it looks great. I will paint over them in the future (but I'm digging the black for now) oh and the rustoleum bedliner is only $7.98 a can and you can do all your rockers with less than 4 cans. Then get the Oxford whit ptm and spray it.

** don't be fooled this rustoleum is great stuff that sticks very very well and will save you tons of money.

I think that convinced me, your truck looks pretty damn good with it on. i have 2 1/2 fullsize cans of oxford white ptm and i'm thinkin that would do the whole job

I have a feeling that everytime you wash it you will end up flaking a good bit of the paint off.

^^ X2. I don't disagree that the Rustoleum is good stuff but just don't think painting over it will last at all. That bedliner probably has some flexible properties to it where regular spray paint, your oem color, won't.

yeah that makes sense... i don't wana do just black bedliner because everyone has it. I would just paint it white without bedliner but it would look uneven with the original paint above it

It would look uneven/wrong no matter what you do, unless it was professionally painted.

You could wrap your rocker panels with a white vinyl like Joh408 did.
