Rear Glass Swap

Spent the morning reading as many rear window threads as I could but didn't find my answer... I want to swap my solid rear window with an OEM slider. I found a seller here in SD. The question is whether or not the glass from different body styles is interchangable. I know the surrounds can be different but what about the glass.

Thanks

I'm 99% sure all rear windows are interchangeable ('97-'03).

There are two types of Ford sliders for '97-'03. The old type has the edges of the glass exposed ... avoid these windows as the frames will leak. The newer type has a small plastic frame around the edges of the glass. This is the type you want to get (don't ask me how I know this )

oh and i can give you the correct tape number and brand you should use to seal it so you wont have any leaks

Not hardly ... just trying to keep you from making the same mistake I made

Here's my experience putting a slider in my XL ... Slider FAIL

I still have the window installed ... it has a brown tint, which looks real nice w/ my tan interior. It doesn't leak between the frame and the cab, it leaks through split/cracks in the frame. If I park facing downhill, it leaks very little in the rain (water doesn't run off the cab down over the window).

That's the new style of slider (small plastic frame around the edge of the glass)
