swappin out bedsides

i was just curious. How hard would it be to swap out my plain flat bedsides to the flare sides, like on the lightnings? I have a short bed but is the wheelbase any different?? I wouldnt think so but im just curious if anyone has done it.

This is something I've wanted to do for a while, but I just can't justify the cost (buying the bed, repainting, new tool box and shell), for a purely cosmetic mod ...

To those thinking about it: You could ask around and see who has the same color truck and if they are willing to swap, because a few flareside owners MAY miss the space in the bed, who knows what could happen?

The space difference is so very marginal. In fact I prefer the flareside because I have no wheel wells. So I can put plywood/drywall flat in the bed vs on top of the wheel wells.

actually I had planned something like this before, grafting the stepside panels to a fleetside box, give it that quadrasteer flare, shave the step and hump off on the front so it was only the flare. Had it mocked up once, looked very unique but as mentioned before meerly cosmetic for most. I planned on running fatty's and wanted to go off the deepend with it lol back burner nonetheless. Stepsides are great for many situations but a hinderence in others, its all to the owner I own both and enjoy both lol

So you mean a ext cab flareside? Or a Four door flare?

Jake's 6.5 foot bed could not easily replace your 5.5 foot bed.

I'm not saying it can't be done, it's just that the cost of the hacksaw blades alone would be enough to make Bill Gates weep.
