That's your truck saying, don't put a K&N in, lol. Maybe the latch is sticking and needs to be lubed or adjusted.

Lube up the latch. As well as check the spring. Sometimes the spring breaks and when you pull the handle nothing happens

Mine did the exact same thing when I bought it until I adjusted the hood bumpers. They were not tight enough to force the hood to slightly pop when you pulled the lever. I was also MISSING one of these bumpers which I'm sure didn't help either.

Open the hood, and basically look where the inside of the headlights meets the bumper. You will, or should, notice a bracket on each side that will have a threaded rubber bumper. That is what controls how your grill sits on the truck when the hood is closed. I would be willing to bet yours are threaded too far in and need to be pulled out just a bit.

That is of course assuming your latch and release are working properly. Mine were and I found that these bumpers make a huge difference on how your hood opens or doesn't open.

Yeah, Mine did the same thing, went a while with it like that.
Get a can of WD-40 and lube up the latch under the hood.
Works great now!

P.S. I had a "TOOL" to fix the problem - a small stick that I would use to keep the hood handle pulled out as I went and pulled on the hood to get it to pop. Wife thought it was funny.

Glad to hear it worked out!
With WD-40, Duct tape and Pliers you can do just about anything!
