2001 Supercrew, stake holes under cap?

Does anyone know if the 2001 Supercrew has stake holes under the rail cap?

I am pretty sure none of the Screws have stake pockets. Ford did not put them in the 5.5beds at all.

Mine has em... only the 6.5 bed screws got them.

It depends on your intent.
The holes are under the cap but, there are no 'pockets'.
Think of it like a pair of pants. There is an opening but everything put in there would fall out down at your ankle.

So, it would work for a Bull-Ring type attachment but, wouldn't hold a 'leg' for a rack.

The only reason I could guess that Ford did this was maybe load weight on the bed walls?
The beds with sheetmetal outer walls got the true stake pockets.
Composite outer walls got no pockets and the 'hole' covered at the factory,
(i.e. screw 5.5 bed and the 6.5 flareside bed).

Are you asking because you want to use the stake holes or because you want rid of the caps? I recently put a bedside on one of these and if i recall correctly the bedside is recessed for the cap and there are about 100 rectangular holes that the cap snaps into. I'd tell you to look, but it's really hard not to break the tabs off the cap. and the caps are expen$ive.

hey hardball, I wanna mount my CB ants on the top of my bed near the front. and i had a buddy tell me that i should have the stake holes on the top plastic piece. and i dont, as im sure you dont either. although im not sure if its just the plastic piece that doesnt and theirs holes in the metal below and its just covered up by a straight piece of plastic...and i dont think we had a choice of bed lengths either... never heard of a 6.5 bed...

I was asking because I have been thinking about making a frame for carrying kayaks, bikes, etc. and would like to put the legs of the frame in the stake body holes. I tried looking under the caps and saw all the tabs so I would want to leave the caps on, just cut holes where the stake body holes would be. I had made a frame before that I could put in the bed but I now have a cover and would like to be able to keep it closed and store the toys on top.

I've thought about getting an after market roof rack but they all seem so small compared to the truck. I would love something more beefy like on the Nissan Exterra or the Toyota FJ Cruiser. I saw one on an F150 online and contacted the company that made it but it was just a prototype and never went into production. If anyone knows of something like this I would love to hear about it.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's the one thing you can't do.
The hole is under there but it's not 'boxed', just a cavernous pit.

I made bed rails for my truck. The stake body pockets are about 6.5 inches deep for those trucks with access covers.

I was thinking if I made the leg small enough to fit in the hole but above the rail big enough to sit on the rail it might work...what do you think?
