Holes in Bed/Box

I recently took the stacks off my truck... now I am going to Rhinoline it or Line-X it... however, I've got two 5" in holes in my bed, and some screw holes in the top of my box, behind the window. Would a body shop be able to weld 5" sheet metal plates to fill the two holes? How about fixing the holes in the top of the box behind the window? I really don't want them to take the bed off.

Any suggestions?

Welding it is probably a good call. Now as for the small holes behind the window, I probably wouldn't weld a huge piece of sheet metal there to cover them up. I'd probably try and find a plastic scratch cover for that.

Why the heck would you get rid of your stacks?

Its amazing how things become un-cool so fast! Welding the large holes up will help, and then the liner. The smaller ones, i probably wouldn;t mess with...maybe a scratch cover like Hespen said...

could just have them spot weld the holes near the cab if they are small enough.

That'd work great. See if you have a buddy with an O-A welder and some filler rods.

The holes on the top of the bed along the back window are only 1/4" holes made by some self tappers.

My only question is, what about getting to the bottom of the piece to repair it so it doesn't rust? The top is easy! But I can only stick my fingers in between the bed and window... Would they have to bend that piece up, and then repair it then bend it down? Or is there a way they can get that back piece off without taking the bed off?

I was thinking of just filling them with fiberglass or something, then sand it down, and be good to go for the lining. But I'm worried about the bottom side of that top piece as I don't want it to rust.

As far as those 5" holes in the bed, I'll just hit them up with some rustoleum or even prime it and paint it the body color after getting them filled in and welded.

My driveshaft would've hit a cross pipe if I loaded the bed. So off it went.

Damn, that sucks. Hopefully you can sell it and get some money back.

I've got a few people wanting it.

But, with that money, I'm planning on fixing the bed up.

So does anyone know how I can get the top of the bed fixed?!
