Removing front bumper

I am having trouble removing my front chrome bumper on my 06. Where do I start and does anyone have any good directions or pictures?

wow, you're in luck, I just took the front bumper off my 08... Where did I start

Open up your hood
Take out the headlights, 3 bolts each I believe
Then you work your way down to the bumper, I believe you have to remove the top trim piece above the chrome bumper to expose the other bolts.

I just worked my way down to the bumper using a 10mm socket wrench. Took about an hour.

I can give you more detailed instructions with a couple pictures but honestly you just look for bolts/clips and unattach them haha

I got it off. I didnt remove the headlights or the painted peice above the bumper. Now a bigger issue. This chrome bumper has the square foglight openings from I believe an 04 and 05. I have an 06. Even though the dealer said the part number of the bumper should fit.It doesnt. The hole do not seem to line up and there is a gap above the fogs on both sides. Am i missing something like a trick to this or do I need another bumper.

lol, I had to remove the headlights and the painted piece because my truck came with light front damage ha ha

As for the square foglights I don't know much about it becuase mine is an '08 so the foglights are round...

i'm actually looking to do the opposite of what you are doing... i have an 04 and want to put the newer style (06-07) bumper on it to get the round foglights....

from everything i've read the brackets are different on the 04-05's to the 06-08's... you may have to buy brackets to use the square fog light bumper on your 06.

can anyone confirm that?

if you swing by a ford dealership they can show you on the breakout sheet what is different for mounting the bumpers... the front bumper is like $280, and that little bumper cover that goes across the top of the bumper is $300... then the brackets are $40 a piece. These prices are with a 25% discount from the dealership prices. Not to mention now you have to get it painted!

If you want a chrome back bumper off of an 08 I have one available it may not look very different but at least you can say its off an 08

Thanks for the info. I went by the dealership and got the break out sheets. It turns out the square and round fog bumpers were both on the 06's depending on the build date. So off course my build date doesn't fit the square fogs. It cheaper to go with the round fog bumper than to mess with replacing all the brackets and top bumper. So I'm gonna put this chrome bumper with the square fogs in th classifieds.

I liked how the squares matched the square headlights. Just looked more streamline to me. But I gues its time to change routes and go with rounds.
