i have some questions on smoked tail lights, i have no expierence w/ them therefore know nothing about it.
1. is this something i can do myself?
2. does smoking the tailights make the brake light less visible and harder to see?
3. if i did smoke them would i need a stronger bulb?
thats all i can think of rite now, thanks for any input

1. you can smoke the lenses yourself, but i recomend having a body shop spray the clear. this guy also tints tails www.jonstintedtails.com
2. Yes, the brake light will be harder to see. the more coats the less visible the light
3. You might be able to put some LED's on there but dont know how much brighter it will be. You could also add a Line Of Fire for extra visibility

thanks for the help. if anybody has any opinions on how dark i should go im pretty much open to all ideas. i have an 05 black scab xlt. i was thinking of doing the headlights to. pictures would also be appreciated. i would post some of my own but i dont have a camera. thanks in advance
I used VHT Nightshade spray tint on my other trucks taillights, I did 2 layers, making my taillights look shadowed, not completly covered, stock bulbs and its still shine through even in the sun. I say go for it, but if you gonna go heavy on it maybe replace your bulbs with LEDs. I'll admit maybe it decreased the glow of my lights a little bit, but not by very much, just DO NOT use a clearcoat over the spray tint, that will f your taillights up very good and kill the light.
Heres some pics of it ( try imagining its a F150 lol )

awesome man, its just simple spray painting, just go left, pause, right, pause, left, pause... going all across the taillamp. Heres a link to the VHT I used

no problem, also let me give you more information to help make this job perfect.
required products
alcohol, VHT ( or w/e spray tint you have available ), car polish, lint free cloth, and a couple hours of free time.
First, after removing your taillamps & brakelight ( if you are going to to the brakelight also ) clean them well with alchohol.
Second, place them in a dust free environment ( on paper towels on a old table is what I did )
Third, begin spraying them left to right, pausing aftwer each pass, with a steady slow ( but not to slow ) pass, allow 10 minutes between drying periods per coat.
Fourth, once they are at the darkness level you prefer, let them be for about 20 - 30 minutes, better to give it time to completly dry, depending on weather conditions.
Fifth, Get the car polish and lint free cloth ready to go to work, polish them very well to bring out the shine in them, the darker you sprayed them the shinier and more glossy they will look, as you can tell my Silverados taillights aren't very shiny because I chose to go light on them.
Sixth, Re-Install and enjoy the new look. And ofcoarse come back here and post pics!
Hope the project goes well.

i did a second set of lights. this time on a dodge. and i used a different clear coat, and it came out 100X better. Before i had used the Duplicolor clear coat, but this time i used Krylon and it came out perfect. no milky residue
