Truck Boxes (toolboxes) (Now with Pics!)

I am looking to go pick up a truck box (or tool box) for my Screw. I am probably headed to Tractor Supply to get their black tool box to put in the bed of my truck.
My question is quite simply - How are these mounted in the bed of the truck?
Is it just a couple screws drilled into the truck?

Thanks!

there are a couple of ways to mount it. You can either put a couple of screws in your truck bed, which i personally wouldnt do or you can use stake pocket anchor points like i did. I got two of them from pep boys, put the box on the truck, drilled holes where they would go. It works perfectly. I have never had any problems and its easy to remove if you have a really big load. Plus you dont have to drill any holes in your truck.

MIne came with J hooks the hooked under the lip of the bed rail and I tightened them up from inside the box!

I like both of those options better than drilling holes through the truck.
I will check out which way this box mounts before buying.
Thanks!

Thats the mounting version I have seen on almost every truck box I have ever come across. They give you two strips of foam padding about 2" wide with adhesive on one side. You put the foam strip on the bedrail, set the box on it, then tighten up the J hooks to the underside of the bedrails and its done.

I checked out the boxes this morning at Tractor Supply and it looks like they have the J Hooks and two strips of foam padding.
I went back out to my 2007 Screw with the factory installed bed liner and I could not honestly tell if this intallation would work or not.
I would like to figure it out before I spend $350 (+/-).
Anyone have a similar box installed (it really looked like the bed liner would create some issues)?
Thanks again!

I do not know what a "stake pocket" is so I can not comment...

Just a misunderstanding on my part.
Post #2 mentioned stake pockets and I thought that's what you meant as one of your two options.

The plastic bedrail would have 4 (shortbed) or 6(longbed) access covers with a framed 'box' or cage called a pocket, underneath, big enough for a 2x3" 'stake' about 8" deep. They also have side access holes for bolts.
I was pretty sure the supercrew didn't have stakepockets.

What does your factory bed liner look like?? Does it come up the side of the bed and fold over to the top??

As long as you can put your hand under the bedrail you should be good to go.

Let me know if the following pics help answer the question of if I can use the J Hooks for the installation:

You have exactly what I have, and the J-hooks work just fine.

That is exactly what I was hoping for. Do you use the spot pictured in the last photo to install the J Hooks or do they attach elsewhere?

No, not in the stake pocket, but under the edge of the top rail of the box inside, where it bends 90 degrees. __
lJ Make sence?
