Fitting a Motorcycle in the Bed

I have a 97 F150 styleside shortbed and want to know if anyone has been able to fit their Motorcycle in the back? I have an 06 Kawasaki ZX10-R Ninja. Anyone have any ideas if the bike is to big to fit with the tailgate up? Any mods I can do to fit it in?

Thanks in advance

I had a Yamaha 650 in my shortbed, tailgate up.
It wasn't straight.
I thought the tailgate up was more important than being straight.

Your bed with the tailgate shut is 78 inches.
According to the Kawasaki, that bike's overall length is 81.3 inches.

Any particular reason why you want to be able to put the tailgate up?

I put my bike in the back of my truck (5.5 ft bed) without any problems. I have to leave the tailgate down because the bike is 93" long.

You have 2 options pal:
1) trailer it
2) leave the tailgate down and roll on

HA HA! I am wanting to keep the bike straight so that I can make a custom tonneau that is the shape of the bike. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to make the bike fit? Could I cut into the Bed of the truck?

To get the three inches you need this would do the trick.

You might be able to notch the front of your box to get some extra space but thats kinda extreme. If it wasnt for wanting a custom tonneau youd be set by just putting them in at an angle. I can fit 2 yamaha yz250's in my box and put the tailgate up. I dont know how long they are compared to a sport bike though.

Since you want a tonneau and have already customized your tailgate, why don't you just get a small motorcycle trailer and forget about using the bed?

My buddy has two bikes and lives in an apartment with no garage.
He bought a enclosed trailer and customized the interior for both bikes.
So, he can tow and it also serves as his 'garage' at the apt complex.
