Post lightning tail lights

got my lightning tail lights in today they look sweeeeet!!!! but always a but the lightning lights only have two bulbs not three like the stock ones but dont worry they still work you just wont use one tail light bulb and all so the stock screws are to long so dont do what i did. i tightened them down and one went through the housing so now i have to see if ford will do somthing about it thought i would let everyone know before hand.

Did the bulbs install in the sockets without modifying them? Curious with those tabs if they coinside with the factory bulb tabs when turning in the socket hole. Please let me know. Also, were the stock screws from the original lights that were too long, or did you just screw too far, I know that can happen with plastic threads?

new bulbs come with the lights and yes they are the same plug its just one of them you wont need just tuck it out of the way. yes the screw is to long i just ground off a 1/4" and it worked fine. grind it first then put it in if not then you will see the bolt from the othwer side.

Would you tuck it inside the wheelwell or behind the light? I asked about the sockets whether they matched with same socket tabs, since I have a '97 with 3, but do realize the third is not used. Thanks, Rick

FYI... the lightnings aren't the only ones with the 2-bulb setup... they changed it mid-year 00 to the 2-bulb setup on all of the flare-sides. If you look at the early ones with the 3-bulb setup, they have (from top to bottom) Red, White, Red. For the 2-bulb, they eliminated the extra parking lamp and moved the backup light to the top.

Hey ringmaster:

I see you put holes in yours. Same thing I just did to mine. Where did you go for warranty replacement of them, and what did you tell them? I would like to know so I don't get screwed.
