Mine was built in 00 but is still considered a 01. I think all s-crews have the hood liner and it should work on all 99 and up f-150's. Goodluck

all 97+ f150's have the same hood, they might have just put a hood insulator in the supercrews.. i don't remember noticing one in my 99 f150, but i never looked.. i can look up the price for one.. shouldn't be more than $100

Exclamation

I have a 2000 F150, 5.4L, 4WD. It came from the factory minus the underhood insulation. My wife's 2001 F150, 5.4L, 2WD came with the insulation. My dealer inspected my my 2000 F150 and ordered one for me under warranty. He checked several of the new F150's on his lot, each had the insulation. No argument on his part. My truck was built in Kansas City. Hope this helps.

Question Underhood insulation

The Supercrew that I have for a rental while my truck is being fixed has a nice layer of insulation under the hood. Its just a piece held on by push in clips under the hood and from what I can tell actually quites the noise a little.
Is this something that they started putting on in 2001 or just the screw models? My 00 F150 doesn`t have this and I would like to add it when I get it back. I also know that there is a 00 or 01 model supercrew with extensive damage to the rear and side at the local wrecker that I could most likely get it off of for cheap.
The question is are the hoods the same between the 00 and 01 models, and between the reg150 model and the screw. If they are the same it looks like I could just get new clips and snap it on to mine. Anyone added this to their truck??

Thanks for all the help guys. I went to the local wrecker where a wrecked supercrew was and got the liner and all the attaching clips to it. Grand total for all was $10.00 with me taking it off. They couldn`t find it in their so called parts price book for used parts so he just said give me 10.00 Its clean like day 1 so thats a plus. For the cost I couldn`t pass trying it on mine.

Thanks again

just curious--can see cutting down on noise is good, but how about keeping heat from engine under the hood--seems like that would be bad. i have it on my truck also and have been considering taking it off. comments?
is there enough air flow to take the heat out of the engine compartment or should we try to keep our engines as cool as possible?
i am thinking supercharger and trying to get the heat away from the engine in any way possible. again COMMENTS--am i thinking wrong on this?

Cool

The hood does transfer some heat. Drive one with and one without insulation after a big ice/snowstorm. Mine does not have it and melts stuff off real nice. My old truck had it and the ice would stay for days on end. The hood is aluminum too, great for heat sinks...

Just put in a hoodliner...didnt know the 01's had em. Had mine ordered from an expedition (same hood) $45 buck, plus another couple for the clips. Although I did get some aluminized vinyl material from McMaster Carr...and affixed it to the underside of the liner...looks pretty sharp!!!

the liner is not actually for sound suppression, it is there incase of an underhood fire, in which case the plastic clips would melt and the mat would fall and smother the fire. my dad's 93 explorer had this but my 93 ranger and my 98 150 didn't/doesn't.

I don't believe that for a second. I've seen lots of engine fires where the hood insulation stays put. If the fire is hot enough to melt those plastic clips the car is totaled anyways. It is for noise. It's not for paint protection (I've heard that one before), fire, heat or anything else.

      Question

Any thoughts of a hood liner from the newer F150s fitting on a '98 Expedition. I would assume it would. I have a '98 Expy EB and there is not a hoodliner. In fact I do not rememember a liner on any of the '98s I test drove at the time. I posted this subject in the Expedition area and no replies, hum!

Any thoughts here would be appreciated.
