Post what the heck is "Island Blue"?

I've been looking at F-150's, saw one in the classifieds, found one, called the guy, sounds like a pretty nice ride... has ORP, the tow package, custom exhaust, the bed is already rhino lined... the only problem is he said the color is "Island Blue", he couldn't describe it very much... does anyone have more information on this color or have a picture of their own island blue f-150 they could send me? It's a great deal, but if I don't like the color I'm not going to come near purchasing it.

Thumbs up

Mattbert,
I don't have a picture but, it's more like teal colored than it is blue.
I receive many compliments on the color.

There is a member "97customXLT" who has one. Here are a couple of pictures:

I bought a Island Blue 2001 SCrew last week, and it is darker than the 97 pictured above. It looks blue in bright light, but in dim light it looks green. Everyone that has seen it loves the color.

beach, you answered my question before I could ask it . My brother has the 97 "teal" F-150, and this color looked different... Anyways, I test drove this vehicle today and it was sweet, had just about everything I wanted (except an aftermarket air intake and the cd changer, and a roll-bar which I had been planning on adding anyways), but I can deal with that, so I may get it and learn to love the color a bit more .

Mattbert,

My 2000 F150 XLT is also " Island Blue" with the tutone silver accent. Ford also calls this color dark teal. I really like this color personally. (one of the reasons I traded my '99 Drk. torrador red/harvest gold F150 XLT } :}

hey JJ, do you have any pictures online of your truck? I went and saw this one last night, I'm probably going to end up buying it. I was considering rhino lining the rocker panels a different color to give it a "two-tone paint" look while protecting hte rocker panels at the same time, curious how the island blue and grey look, though I'd probably end up doing island blue and black to match the rhino lining in the bed, and probably on the brush guard and roll bar too .

well I found out what color it is... the color of my new truck!
well, pending successful completion of bank documents (loans already been approved, just need to sign everything and hand over a check), the following vehicle will be my new rig.
Its a 2000 Ford F-150 4x4
XLT model with the off-road package and the tow package
5.4L V8 engine
3.55 with limited slip rear diff
Island Blue w/grey cloth interior
Rhino Lined bed
Sliding rear window
Front windows tinted to match the factory tint on the rear windows
Westin chrome nerf bars
Custom dual exhaust already installed
keyless entry and passive anti-theft system (its got those special keys that you do NOT want to loose!)
headlight covers (see pictures)
Ford factory premium stereo (minus the CD changer), JL Audio stealthbox powered by 300 watt amp, custom speakers

Customizations soon to be added:
Airaid air intake
Roll bar and manik brush guard (gotta have some places to mount all the new PIAA's right?)
tool box in the back (under the rails version so as not to conflict with the roll bar)
New alarm/keyless entry/remote start
And that's about it for now . Perhaps a lift and some bigger tires at some point, but not for a while. Here's some pics!

Rumor has it that Island Blue came about because some clutz at Ford accidentially mixed the amazon green and the metallic blue together in the paint booth. :-)

Hey! Congrats Matt on coming back to the world of F-150 ownership. I can't hardly wait to hear about your plans for mods.

You gonna put a bush guard on it like your old truck? Ummm... Better not. We don't want those birds to roost on your truck again, do we?

ROFLMAO! (rolling on floor laughing my *** off). Actually that came up on another board, won't mention names... I find it incredibly hard to believe that of the two plus years I was a member of the f150 online mailing list (still am, but mainly just a reader), despite my awesome moonlight blue rig, the cool stories of staying up til 4 in the morning to install Hella fog lights in it only to have the vehicle not start, the birds using my brush guard as a perch and crapping on my hood, the bushes on teh side of my driveway that were scraping my paint (that I eventually just chainsawed out of there anyway!), and all of my other great stories... EVERYONE remembers the birds! I have even had strangers (one guy at the Ford dealership!) when he saw my name and I was telling him about my previous F-150, he was like "hey, aren't you the guy that had the birds using your brush guard for a perch and crapping on your hood?" LOL Thanks for the welcome back! I do plan on installing a brush guard... maybe I could electricute it or something?

Well, of all your "exploits," the roosting/crapping birds was one of the funniest threads in the mail list history.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your offroad adventures in the near future.
