How much should I expect to pay for the mounting kit? How about the harnessses?

The cheapest I've been able to find this HU online for is around $250. If I'm going to end up spending another $50 in parts, it'd probably be worth getting it from Crutch since I'll get everything I need in one fail swoop, along with instructions. *shrugs* what do you all think?

RP

---Also, thanks for those directions. They look VERY good.

You may be better off cause if my friend didnt work at Ccity i would have paid alot more than $15 for all the parts since accessories is the biggest mark up i think he said each harness is like 15 or something and the kit was 14 but i saw a kit with large pocket at walmart for 9.99 so im prolly going with that. but in your case might wanna just call CC and see what they quote you at then weigh the odds of dealing with Crutch field or paying 10 or 20 more bucks.

Later.......

*Still looking online btw*

have any of you tried sirius digital radio? I was looking at a totally bitchen clarion head unit yesterday... had a 7" touchscreen LCD, DVD, mp3, plus options like a TV tuner, DVD/CD changer, dolby digital 5.1 decoder... all for the low, low price of 2 grand. The only thing was that it's sirius and not XM ready. ugh.

Its just another xm style thing but i hear its 2 or 3 dollars more a month but it has more channels.sirius is just the competition in the race that will be popping up all over who can deliver a satallite signal the fastest have more stations its basically gonna blow up like cable vs 56k where cable is xm/sirius and am/fm signal is 56k so i would say there will be more popping up everywhere with in a year or two.

heres a link to a place that has the 7400 for $249
which is the cheapest ive seen.i bought the 7300
from them last year .you are gonna need an ip bus
cable, male to male i think,to connect the brain to the h/u.
i have the 903xm which is what u have, and have it ran direct.
hope this helps.oops i just saw u got a price for 250, thats good
i hate seeing people pay 375 that the chain places get for them.
the pioneers are about 50w a channel ,the new head will make
the crappy stock speakers sound pretty good.

Trash,

Thanks for the response. I went so far as to look at the P8400 this evening. The 7400 CANNOT BE FOUND in Louisville.

The guy @ HH GREGG made me a pretty good deal on the 8400 but, I'm still not sure if I want to fork out that much for that stereo. I love th motorized face and really think that it's NEAT. Do I need it? The answer is no.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1371927214

As you can see, I can get out of there with it for around $420 shipped but, I still need the kit ($40), the IP BUS CABLE ($40). So, just that quick, I'm up around $500 and I still have to install it.

Granted, I can probably sell my HU and changer for, what?, $200 ish?

Heck, I don't know. I think the 7400 is probably plenty.

Do you have the 7400? Does ANYONE have the DEH-P7400? What's your opinion? Why don't the local stores (Circuit City, Best Buy, Etc) have this HU in stock? Why would I choose the 7400 or the 8400? I'm not a sound junky and thus, maybe the 8400 is an overkill? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I'm still confused. Help.

If you were worried about the 7400mp color not matching then the 8400 will just be WRONG i also dont think you need that much. Then look at the difference in price vs functions.

Probably a tops of 5 functions over the 7400, do you really play WMA media? I dont i use mp3 format on my computer. I doubt there are many people out there that use that format and it has cd text kinda cool but worth the 200 dollar price difference? i think not. Automatic sound leveler again nice to have but really if you cant hear it wouldnt you just turn it up yourself and what if it starts thinking other things are road noise and turns it up way to loud?

Just trying to help you out by adding my 2¢

Later.........

btw id go with crutchfield on the order since they say they give you the install kit and both harnesses also a big company wont screw you. With CCity i had to have them special order mine too i have no idea why they dont have them on display and in store.

rock, imo that is too much since your working to get xm in dash. Whats the point of xm if you would want to listen to mp3, cds, waves, etc.? personally, creating all that is toooo much work for me... but thats just me. I like hoping in the screw and tuning too xm... and sometimes i pop in a cd... nice and easy...

Yeah, I agree with you guys. Ascii, you're right. I can't justify the extra $200 for nothing more than a nifty gadget (ie, the faceplate that is motorized and pops down).

I'm going to go with the DEH-P7400. I'm ordering a IP bus cable (because NOBODY CARRIES THIS STUPID THING) from someone on ebay for $35 to my door. I'm probably going to go through Crutchfield on the deck. They have 'same as cash' for 6 months so, I figured, WHY NOT?

I'm out of town ALL NEXT WEEK with business but, I plan on having it at my doorstep to install next weekend. I CAN'T WAIT!!

Thanks for all the help folks.

Anytime if i can help i try =] hope all goes well if you get stuck dont think twice about asking. I would say that about 97 % of the people on this board would help as much as they can from home and about 30% go past that and send things that are helpful or actually take time and make something that would help i have run into quite of few of these people on here and i figure its my time to help. Make sure to post some pics of the new install.

I got my new HU in yesterday and, after being out of town on business, I'm going to install it tomorrow.

I've carefully gone through and spliced the harnesses together but, geesh, I hope I didn't screw something up and that they are all making a connection. That was a pain in the ***.

I'll post pics, god willing, once I get it installed tomorrow... again, god willing.

I gotta figure out where to run the XM cable as well... I'll figure that out though.
