Factory F150 Audiophile Subwoofer ?
Factory F150 Audiophile Subwoofer ?
PLEASE! lol
I'd like to get one of these units with at least the box and speaker. Amp would be nice too but I have one I think I can use.
I searched ebay with no luck. So if anyone has a lead on where I can pick one up please let me know!
Thanks!
Also, I'd be very interested in any reviews on this factory set-up with the factory door speakers and factory 6disc changer.

Before you buy the factory subwoofer, you should check to see if you have the wiring harness in the rear of your truck. The OEM subwoofer has it's own internal amp. I wanted to do the same thing and bought one, but I didn't have the plug in the back. You will also need an audiophile radio to make it work. It will have three plugs in the rear of the radio vs. two in the rear of your radio. I ended up going aftermarket subwoofer and still using the stock 6 disc radio.
I think it would be easier to go aftermarket. Saleen made a subwoofer that works with the standard radio and probably puts out better sound than the OEM subwoofer. Do a search on ebay and look in the "for sale" forums on this site. The Saleen unit came with a wiring harness to make for an easy installation.
If you already have an amp, just get a subwoofer and box for the rear. Get something like the Metra blue tooth harness for our trucks and come off the rear speaker wires to your amp, if you have speaker level inputs. If not, get a line-out converter.

I don't have the Saleen sub. The sub box I'm using is similar, but I have a Polk 10" subwoofer in a Q-logic box. My amp is a 5 channel Blaupunkt and I have a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2 sound processor. I'm using Boston Acoustics 6.5" components up front and a 6"x8" in the rear.
I have the factory 6 disc radio and have added the saleen sub and polk db571's up front. Compared to the stock setup it sounds alot better. Its not going to win any contests but it sounds good to me and thats what matters.

FYI: I'm not trying to win any contest for sure! Just want better sound than stock and a little bass.
I have a factory sub and head unit available if your looking for a set
Most people with high end systems dont even run rear speakers.
I went the cheap clean route you're looking at Cuz.
Here's a good place for an OEM 6 disc - http://www.oem-auto-accessory.com/
I'm very happy with them, bought my 6 disc MP3 headunit there.
Bought a Hi-Lo converter, a small Alpine 250 watt amp, and an 8" Punch subwoofer for less than $300. Sounds good, only took a little space under the back seat, and no one knows I've got anything worth stealing. I use the factory door speakers, and building a sealed plywood box didn't take longer than an afternoon.
My next mod is going to be this so I can make use of the empty AUX button on that radio ...

The saleen sub is powered by the front speakers power wire. When having the front and rear speakers set at equal balance the sub is not as loud. If you turn the fade all the way to the front speakers then the sub gets more power and is louder. This is what I have found out and others have chimed in on this too. The saleen hooks up direct to the back of your HU and is a true plug n play setup. I think I have a pic of the install sheet in my album for the saleen sub still.
In my 08 I have the audiophile system, mainly because when I bought the truck, I told myself I did not want to redo the audio system like I had in my old trucks. The audiophile system does sound good, but it does not compare to good aftermarket equipment. I had a qlogic stealth box with a JL 10" pushed by a PPI amp in my 03", it was night and day from the audiophile unit. I do not regret getting the audiophile as it is a clean install and suits my music needs, however if it did not come with it I would be looking for more. If I were you I would spend your money on aftermarket items that install similar to the audiophile under the seat.
