Question Easy Install Question

I just purchased a Poineer DEH-P6000 singe din unit to replace the fac casette player. I've already pulled the fac H/U out using some home made din tools and that was a snap. The question or problem isthe new H/U dosen't have the same type removal system. Rather than the U shapped tools, it uses a coulpe flat pieces that are maybe 4" long and have a 90' bend about an inch from the end. It looks like it'll work in a simmilar fashion but the New H/U dosn't have the tho holes in the front to insert the U tool. I guess my question is am I going to have to remove the Factory bracket and install the new bracket? How much trouble is this gonna be?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Maybe I dont understand your question. The original head unit is larger than the new one right? Well then you're gonna need a dash kit and might I also suggest a wiring harness. ( Makes Life a lot easier. ) The radio surround just pops off then you install the dash kit and slide the radio in to that kit. If I misunderstand the question just let me know.

BadAngler: Along with your headunit, you'll have to pull out the factory sleeve. The DEH-P6000 comes with the H/U, and a metal sleeve. This sleeve slides into your dash first, and is held in pretty tight. Your H/U slides into that. That is what you use your keys for, to unlock it from that metal piece.

Thanks guys. I got it. I pulled the fac H/U and made a few modifications to the dash kit and it poped right in. The metal sleave around the Pioneer slipped right into the dask kit. I had to bend some tabs on the sleave so it wouldn't pull out but it all went together.

Man I never knew how BAD that Fac H/U sounded!!!

Don't know what I'll do when I replace the speakers
