This site came from another thread. It shows some of the work required to put a double din stereo in the F-150.

Well DaveK I'm wiping the egg off my face. I guess there is always a way with enough will and patience.

Thanks for the link!

I just purchased (less than a month ago) a 2000 Expy Eddie Bauer edition. I'm in the middle of doing 90% of the mods I want done to it. I've just had the complete Multimedia system installed in my car, and I've also got a Kenwood P907 & Alpine DVD in my Dash. It's not a difficult install, and both DIN units fit perfectly in the dash without any dash modifications (after all, I'm leasing so I need the car to be stock again when I return in down the road). I'll be in the process of taking pictures of my install & posting them to my web site now that it's complete. When I do, I'll post a link here so everyone can see what it looks like.

Just an idea of what I have:
Kenwood P907
Kenwood C907 Changer
Alpine DVD Player
Alpine DVD Navigation System
MBQuarts in the front doors
Kappa 5x7's in the rear doors

A Completely Custom Amp Rack / Sub enclosure behind the third seat that contains:
Phoenix Gold ZX 475ti
Phoenix Gold ZX 400ti
Fosgate 10" Sub (to be replaced by JL soon!).

I searched the web high & low for the past 3 months to find any car audio expy install I could to see how I could get all this equipment in without sacrificing any cargo space, still be able to show my equipment & still be able to tip up or remove the third seat.

Pictures will be coming soon......

It comes down to this point: Don't listen to the stereo installation "pros" when it comes to the F150. I was told over and over by installers at over 4 different shops that I HAD to use a single DIN head unit. I refused to listen, and with some cutting on the inside of the dash with a dremel, I installed a 1.5 DIN (GM style) Alpine CD Head Unit (snug as a bug in a rug) and am very happy with it. The double DIN install link on this thread is the only install I've seen that I'm envious of.

Thumbs up

Sorry for the long delay, I've finally got some pics of my Double-Din / Multimedia install out on my website. There's also a couple pics of the Custom Amp Rack/Sub enclosure I installed.

I'd love some feedback from anyone who has ideas on what else I can do, or where/how I can install Rear Displays for movie watching for the passengers.

Check out my pics & let me know what you think:

Site's not fancy, just links to pics.

Thanks
