Horrible Install Thread

Post pics of the worst/horrible installs you have seen.

This was one of the worst alarms, Ive seen to date:
The electrical tape was coming off most of the joints, the alarm was just held under the dash by its own wires, nothing hidden, alarm screwing up left and right, many T-taps and butt connects, cold joints, etc... HORRIBLE!

I wish i had taken pictures of the install CC did on my friends car when i took it apart because his left side speakers and his subwoofer all stopped working. I ended up re-installing EVERYTHING. It was **** poor.

I feel CC and BB are hit or miss on the install quality, just based off of stories and a lot of my friends' installs. Now they usually come to me instead.

Going to do my brother's Escape in a couple weeks once i finish the first round in my F150 (already planning round 2 :o). Man car audio can be addicting.

Thank god for that.

Damnit. I forgot to get pics after it left. The alarm was immaculate.

alkoholik: just an idea for you man, you should look into replacing that toggle with a pushbutton switch, i think it makes it look a ton cleaner and plus you are less ap to break a push button. for even extra coolness you could mount it on the driver door panel just behind your window controls.

Haha gotta love DIY alarms...I still dont like doing them in most cars. The only thing that Im not comfortable with yet. I gotta get the pics off my phone of a lebaron that came into work. Radio held in place by pieces of cardboard and two 6x9's drilled into the interior quarter panels. I"ll try and get 'em up tomorrow while I should be paying attention in class.

i dont have pictures but you should have seen my truck....i pulled out 2 walmart bags worth of wiring out of under the dash board when i bought it...most of them werent connected to anything (he used to have an alarm) and others were unnecisary connections that could have been simplified so i did that...i even found live wires BARE!! but that is part of the reason i bought the truck for cheaper so i saved a $1000 for an evenings worth of work of going through it....i couldnt believe some of the things he did...but everything still works so i guess i did it right!!

my sound system? it is 2 12" kenwoods...nothing insane thats for sure but its enough for me in that small of a cab. they are like 200 watts rms each.

yea i couldnt believe what i pulled out of there...and i found a switch under there...that when i flipped it, it started shooting sparks out of the wires...i guess i should have followed the wires before i just went to flipping switches. haha and get this...the antenna wasnt even connected...the wire was just laying in the fender...and i was wondering why everytime i hit a bump my stereo would like "surge" the sound...haha THATS WHY!! that was fun trying to fish that out of the fender and re connect it. but now i think i have all of my electronics squared away...i re-did the wireing on the headunit also...those were just taped together. so now my next step is doing a seat lift in the back and building a custom box for my subs...i THINK that i can get enough space under there for a ported box...i havent actually gotten under there and measured the space available yet though...maybe that will be next weekends project. haha

i would not count on being able to make a ported box under a seat unless you could make it flow into a center console which would be bad ***, you should just do what i did and get a ported box and leave it on the back seat, facing a hard surface on the back wall so it hits harder
