removal of radio

ve A 2006 f150 xtra cab, how do i remove the radio??

I believe you need a special din removal tool, or you can improvise with a coat hanger in the shape of a U....

I can describe it better once others verify they still use the din removal tool on the newer HU's

Nope, no DIN tool required. Once you pop off the trim there are 4 screws holding the radio in. Really easy. Look in the Head Unit and Satelite Radio sections of the forum, there have been a lot of posts fairly recently on this with pictures.

Yes, assuming it's the same as my 05 there are 4 clips up each side of the trim. You can start at the bottom and pull trim off but you have to pull pretty hard and I didn't have much luck with that. You can use a plastic tool or something like a butter knife to pry on the sides to pop them out as long as you are careful. I bought a plastic tool for $4 that works really well.
