'04 single cd to 6 disc swap

I recently purchased and installed a factory '04 6 disc changer to replace my single cd player. The radio works fine but the cd player doesn't. When you press the cd button it displays" cd error" and when you press the load button "slots full" is displayed, and when the eject button is pressed "eject error" is displayed. You cant even push a cd into the slot. My question is, does the changer require both harnesses to pluged in because my sinlge cd player only had one harness(the largest one on the left side). I might a overlooked the second harness laying up in the dash, if there is one in my truck.

any help is appreciated

DID it get turned upside down in shipping? That could be your problem!

there are two ....

different styles of 6 cd stereos. One is Pioneer ( yellow led lights )
the other audiophile ( green led lights ) i recently bought a ' 04
reg cab xlt and had the clock on my pioneer one crap out on me and the darned thing was so new they didn't even have a replacement one available yet so instead of my having to ride around with a big whole in my dash they had one of the lot men go get a Lariet s cab out of the yard and swapped that with mine.
the one that originally was in my rig had two harnesses ( both plugged in ) and the audiophile one they swapped with me had three harnesses ( the one on the far left was not in use ) i asked what it was for they say for adding an amp or bigger cd changer.
but two harnesses must be hooked up if you've got two. ( i don't know how many where in your rig with the single cd player but two must be rigged for the six...... ) hope that helps....

jztbcz, I just changed out my 1 cd with a 6 cd player in my 2004 Lariet. I was hoping to get not only the 6 cd capability but the RDS feature. Low and behold no RDS. I guess I will look for a 2004 audiophile unit. Glad to hear it is compatable with the cabling in the truck. BTW the single cd unit had 2 also.

I have been hunting around and found the 6 cd head units on ebay. I don't know what I want to do because I also want MP3 capabilities. I'm leaning towards the Mach MP3 unit but its $275 on ebay and it doesn't do WMA. But I do like the fatory look of it.

Also if you don't know the openning in the dash is not a true double din. You can get an aftermarket DD installed but you will need to file away some of the inner dash to make it work.

I'm replacing my factory 6-disc unit with the Kenwood DDX7015 (DVD) in a few days, so I'll have a month old 6-Disc available if anyone is interested.

the Focus has MP3 radio as an option from the Factory. The 2004 F150 and 2005 Focus radios are identical hookups. Ask the dealership or wherever you get your parts from to order a 2005 Focus MP3 player. It should work just the same. i have the connector pin-outs right in front of me and they are identical. This goes for FX4, Larriat and XLT. Please remember that you want a 2005 Focus MP3 player, not the 2004.

2004 f-150 <-radio-> 2005 Focus

now can anyone tell me the trick to getting the trim panel off the IP? i want to swap a aftermarket mp3 player i had on my old F-150 in and know the new radio is bolt in.

You guy's scare me sometimes. Countyboy, sounds like the radio is broke, not incompatible with your truck. Only way i know of fixing it is to send it in for repair.

I beleive the 2005 F-150 HU will have MP3. You might just want to hold out for them to be sold and guy's wanting to dump them on here & e-bay.

I gotta tell you, a single MP3 will hold plenty of music. Can't imagine 6 of them loaded in a player. It would take days to get through it all. I'd loose track.

NR2D, Are you sure the radio wasn't RDS? My audiophile had it and living in a big city like San Diego only yielded me marginal results. Sometimes known station using the system worked and other times didn't. It also mumbles the music titles as it uses Abreviated names instead of scrolling. Kind of sucked.

Penguin, What is a IP?

The audiophile 6-disc has RDS, the regular 6-Disc doesn't. BTW, had my Kenwood installed last night, so if anyone wants my 6-disc unit give me a holler.

I just swapped out all the factory stereo in my 2004 F150 FX4 Screw. It's only about 2 weeks old and works fine. Just sitting on the shelf in the basement.

factory 6-disc changer head unit
2 pairs 5x7 speakers factory

Email me if you're interested.
