My '03 Supercab with the in dash CD6 has the speed sensing volume, and it works just fine.

I think I remember reading an older thread here that the dual media unit does not have it.

Lightbulb

How about checking your owners manual, or even a quick phone call to the dealer.

I'm pretty sure that you have to turn the option on or off... check your manual (and in fact, I think every truck with a premium system comes with a seperate radio manual) and see if you can figure it out. If not, take it down to your stealership and bug your salesman until he gets the answer...

I have the dual media radio and it has speed compensating volume. While the radio is on, hold the power button (volume button in) until you get the option for adjustment. Use the select buttons to adjust.

DR7, I think you are correct. Mine does not appear to work either. My 99 had it and it worked. Very noticable to me. I generally used setting 2 or 3. This new truck (03) radio appear to do the same thing as you said. I can adjust, but it has no effect. I drive plenty fast enough to know if it were working or not.

So,

How can we get it to work??? Do we need a sensor to put in there to sense the speed??

I am really ticked at Ford, they up the prices on the trucks but take away features.

Like no courtesy lights on the doors....I had them on my 01 Screw.
No speed sensing volume
no heated mirrors available

etc, etc.

My '02 Screw had it but my '03 HD doesn't (at least as far as I can tell). Go figure!

You are all correct. I have a '03 dual medial HU. This unit does have the Speed sense capability, but as you all have discovered, it does not work. Why?

Well I just found out. After removing the HU, I noticed that the factory wiring harness is missing the speed sensor wire! This appears to be the case in ALL(???) 2003 SCrews?

Interesting that this same HU does work with speed sense in a '01 SCrew....

Who can we complain to????

I just found this out too. I have a "Visteon" branded HU from a 02 Screw and put it in . It looks just like my CD 6 but the CD6 that came with my 03 does not have that feature.

Well guess what? It does not work.

I can't beleive that even the HD does not have them.

I love my Screw but have had it for a month now and here is what I have found that Ford has cut back on compared to our 01 Expy and my former 99 F150...

-Carpet mats are noticilbly thinner, cheaper grade.

-No speed sensing volume option.

-No "Lariat" branded floor mats.

-No courtesy lights on the doors.

-No navigation center as standard on the Lariat, just a compass not a trip feature.

And these are just the things I notice.
