Voliant Cold air intake

Has anyone ordered the voliant cold air intake for the 4.2 l ? If so i was wondering if it had a heat shield like for 5.4 and 4.6l. If it does not have a heat shield is there a kit that does inculde a hear shield. LAtez

Syeth,
the 4.2 does not have the cool air box like 5.4 and 4.6. It is the same setup as the Airaid(open filter)

Here's what i had planned

This may sound stupid, but i have been in the custom hotrod business for about 15 yrs now, and I am going to buy a Cal-metal hood, built a cold air intake from the hood cal using flat base and seal that will seperate from eachother when the hood opens, remember some of the older muscle cars that had this,, some of the late 70's trans ams and z-28s had them..........go ahead, laugh,,,,,,,,,,,,hahahaha

Hi

You may have seen this already?

www.F150world.com

Articles/test and info. on air intakes. Interesting

Hi Hdf150....yes i remember...some refer to it as...Ram Air...Still done today.

Ones i saw were ram air for carbs. Do recall seeing one engine with EFI...used a K&N filter inside a custom (insulated sealed) air box. Had intake tube from front to box...from box (filter) to TB...guy said he was loosing HP without the sealed box...to much engine heat...said he picked up HP after the sealed box was installed. Then saw other one on a vette...filter right behind grille (no box)..with intake to TB...Guy said that dynoed at 20+HP gain.

Good luck...have fun! OT
