Strobe signal lights?

I've seen some strobe signal lights on some vehicles around town. I was wondering if anyone had them installed of if a person could buy kit's for them? Thanks.

Check E-bay

They're on there all the time and I think they're $28.50 plus shipping.

There's only a few mods that "are" legal, I never let that stop me though I just put some in my backup lights, not real bright but will surprise the most ignorant tailgater, LOL!,,,,,98

now thats something I have never thought of ... strobes in the back-up lights . I assume you installed them in an after market set , not the reverse lights on the truck . I also assume you can turn them on without being in reverse ... does it strobe all the time in reverse , or just when you want to flash them ? please tell us more...

They aren't very bright, unless it's dark outside. In fact you can barely see them in direct sunlight. I have them wired so they can be turned on anytime I want. They don't come on with the backup lights, but it's nice to have them to get the dummy stopped behind you to move. Next time I'm getting "real" strobes, these were not all that great for $20 a side. You get what you pay for,,,,98

If there's room to mount them in the red part of the tail lights, they would make great hazard light additions.

I have the same setup as Sreamer. I bought the cheap strobe kit from Jegs for about $45. Intalled into the reverse light area and mounted an switch under the dash. I have kinda of a mobile roadside assistance center (Floor jack, cables, tow strap, flares, first aid, jack stands, etc) with the toolbox in the bed. I can pull over to the side and throw the strobes on.
But, as Screamer stated, they are not too bright. My only hope is that they are bright enough for people to notice though.
I don't know anything about "Show Stobes" though

Thumbs up

www.galls.com Has the police quality strobes. They are very pricey, but will nearly blind you at close range! I'm not sure how people go aboout buying them without actually being a police officer, though. Maybe they'll sell them to anyone with the means to afford them??,,,,98

Here's a two strobe system. Most people would probably want a four bulb system, so you'd need two of these I guess? It's all a little confusing to me still, I need to talk personally with someone who has done these.

I have the Galls system in my truck. My power supply is the 6 way 90 watt. When looking at the supplies, look for the number of outlets and that will let you know how many bulbs/heads it can support. The neat thing about the "real" strobes is that the pattern can be programmed. My favorite supply is a random one that changes head pairings and fires in random patterns. It keeps things from getting "boring". You can check http://www.strobesnmore.com for the random pattern supplies. Galls will sell everything except police badges to just anyone. Those badges require a signed letter on letterhead.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Would you happen to have some pic's of the strobes in action on your truck? I think it'd be pretty cool to see and maybe offer some ideas.

At 280 flashes per minute, I'm not sure what kind of pictures I can take. I have my power supply set to wuad flash (four flashes before it switches sides). My digital camera will take quictime movies, maybe I'll try one of those in the coming week and find a website to put it on. My strobes are in my corner lights. They are brighter than my high beams. If they stayed on, I could easily drive with them.

If you think the are neat, you should look at the multi-pattern flashers. It flashes the high beams in several patterns. I have a pair of driving lights wired seperately in with my highbeams so they alternate with the high beams.

With all of that and a siren/air horn, I have never had a problem moving people out of my way...

good topic. I want to install an extra set of reverse lights that were wired to strobe. I live in an apartment and my garage backs out into the parking lot (very blind). I get help from the reflections off the windows opposite of the gargage but I can't always see the duma$$es hauling tail through the parking lot.

greeting all, i have the same kit that fireman has, but made by Whelen, little heavier duty, so i can keep them on longer. As for putting them in your truck, as i mentioned before, BEWARE! it's a pricy fine to get nnailed as "impersonating an officer", which a cop on a bad day may interpret that as if you use them while driving...I live in a small suburb of Pittsburgh and as a Paramedic/Fire Lt. all the cops know me, so i can get away with using them as a warning device, but if you do buy them, and they are expensive! use them wisely, and NOT on the road....i will try to take some pics of my setup..i have 2 clear ones in the parking lights, two blue ones behind my grill, (they look like foglights) and two more hideaways in my taillights.

I was going to originally use them as signal light's for turn signals. I've seen a Isuzu Impulse use them as turn signals before and thought that they were pretty neat. I have a Code 3 dash laser light which is amber and I use to use it often. If I buy the strobes I was just going to use the amber bulbs / lenses which I doubt would be illegal. However, now that I think about it... just to be safe I would probably just use them for car / truck shows as well as for when my alarm goes off so it is visual as well as audible. Thanks for the reply's as usual! Hope to see some pic's / movies soon!

Cool

There are also "fast flash" kits out there too, that's what the Impulse may have had?? Not sure without actually seeing the vehicle in question, though.,,,,98
