Just installed my PIAA Wiper Blades!

Picked up my PIAA Wiper Blades at the SEMA show and just got them installed today. These have silicone impregnated into it so as you use it it leaves a slight silicone layer on the windshield, similar to rain-x. I haven't had a chance to use them yet (the one time I'm wishing for it to rain! LOL) but they look very impressive. They come in carbon fiber and black and I of course got black.
These seem much better then the Bosch micro-edge I had on there before these. To install them is more then just slapping them on there after taking off the old ones, there is actually a window coating you use prior to using them, then you run them dry for about 5 minutes so it leaves an initial layer of silicone down. I'm told they recommend changing them once a year but I was told that they expected themt o work much lunger, they would just stop leaving the silicone layer ont he windshield after a year or so.

Sema show- you lucky SOB. I've been wanting to go to that for years now. I do have a question on the PIAA 520's, especially the 520 SMR. The website says they're 6.25". Is that with the stone shield on or off? Can you tell me the diameter with the shield on? I have the 80XT's pencil beam, but they're way to brite in city traffic. So I'm debating about trying something new.

Thanks,
Bill

that would be with the stone guard off. Add about 1/4" on either side for the stone guard...

Thanks for the help. Instead, I just ordered the replacement lens (Fog) for the 80xt's. It's kinda a hassle unstalling the lamps and wiring harness over again. Thanks.

Jupiter, is it too late for you cancel the order? I've got some lenses for an 80 XT fog that I wouldn't mind trading for some 80 XT drivings. Or not, its up to you .

Matt- I have the pencil beam lenses. If you're still interested shoot me an email at Jupiterak@gci.net. No biggie about cancelling the order from carparts.com.

No problem. I almost got the driving lens as well. But decided the fogs might do better here in AK. If you're still interested, would you like to sell the fogs to me?

they actually are available now through 4-wheel parts. The only scary part is the price. Compared to other blades they are pretty pricy. If I remember right 4-wheel parts retail price is $16.95 per blade. I still have my connections through them since I organized the PIAA lights group purchase a few months back and I was getting them for $15 a blade plus shipping if people can't find them in their area. You should be able to go to anyone that sells PIAA products and they should be able to get them though. The model number for the 20" wiper blades is 93050.
