06 e-fans and underdrive pulleys

Hey guys, i have a 06 f150 5.4l. I was looking into putting some efans and underdrive pulleys on. what benefits am i looking at getting from these 2 mods? and i guess what would be if any down falls to them. I have read a bit about the UDP cause a few problems, but interested in some of yalls opinions. Also where would be a good place and brand to buy from. i have looked at Troyer Performance, but was curious as to what people would recommend.

No experience with UDPs but I love my e-fans. I have and old set of flex-a-lite 270 fans when they were much less expensive and the mod was as rewarding as a installing a tuner imo. I wouldnt mess with UDPs personally especially with efans because they will usually turn on mainly at idle and ur voltage may drop kinda low. Throttle response will be much better and maybe +1-2 mpgs.

According to one site that sells UDPs, it states that its components produce a full charge at idle. And fans don't draw too much, if your engine bogs down or voltage jumps from them switching on, something isnt right. From my friends with UDPs the only problem is the power steering pump may need a punch of the gas pedal if you are turning the steering wheel at low power.

Mine's an '02, but I've had UDP's and fans for countless miles with zero problems at idle. The lights dim ever so slightly at idle but recover at the slightest increase in rpm's. You can hear the difference in the fans between absolute idle and just above idle also, but most electric fans are way overkill anyways so it's not like cooling is even remotely an issue. Never had a single battery/charging system related problem. I have never noticed any difference at all in my steering at any rpm/speed, including idle.

My 16" Derale Tornado's (what comes in the Troyer kit) draw 18.4 amps continuous and I believe spike on start-up around 30.

The UDP/fan combo IMHO, is quite the bang for the buck. I did mine at the same time so can't speak for UDP's individually, but this was most definitely one of those mods that you can feel in the seat of your pants every day. Motor revs quicker and effortlessly. Would definitely do again.

Gotta ask, everyone says you may get mpg improvements, but who actually is? I would love to see before and after mpg readings. (Wife won't let me buy them if it isn't a sure thing)

I used the, gonna give me better gas mileage excuse too many times. By now she knows that most of the time, my bad gas mileage comes from my right foot. I am still curious about some numbers though.

If you need numbers to justify this to her, you're gonna loose. Fuel mpg gains will be moot at maybe 1-2; it'll take years of savings to offset the cost of the purchase. Your argument is invalid. Any noticeable gain in perceived power (and there will be with the fans) will be lost in driving habit. But yea, I would have to say one, maybe two at a stretch, on some looong highway trips may be possilbe.
